[X(]I just purchased the .40 size Easy Sport ARF with the intention of putting my O.S. (AX).47 in it. The latter is already in my G.P. Super Sportster. Coincidentily, I also have a brand new Tower's .75 abc engine. I am really anxious to fire up this engine and thought I might try it in the Easy Sport. This airplane certainly seems solid enough (although I might beef up a bit around the firewall and cheek cowls). The engine mount provided will accommodate the .75 and no mods are required for the firewall blindnuts. The wing has plenty of area having well over 700 inches. This looks just too easy not to try!! I am not so much interested in all out speed, but I would appreciate better vertical. I wonder if the .75 would hover the Easy Sport and accelerate straight up? Or take off really slow and accelerate into a vertical 'rolling' climb? Has anyone tried something like this with the Easy Sport, or what do you think? Hey, maybe I could make it 3-D by putting larger ailerons, elevator and rudder!

I don't think its a good idea. I have a TH 75 in my Stuka. I have watched Easy Sports fly at our field. They are a floater for landing and they are fast with a 40 and very fast with a 46 engine. I think the 75 would WAY over power it!! Overpowering planes makes it harder to get them to slow down. They will want to keep cruising along and may have trouble losing altitude to land. Also the 75 uses a lot more fuel than a 40/46 so if you go with a 10 oz. fuel tank you can expect short flight times. If you really want to try it, I would suggest flying the ES plane with the 46 engine first and get it trimmed out. Get used to how it handles and how it lands. Then when you switch engines you at least are starting with a trimmed out plane that you have experience with. I am guessing that once you see how fast the plane is with the 46 engine, you will be too nervous to try flying it with a bigger engine! [8D]

You won't have any trouble getting it down -- the extra weight of the engine, plus necessary ballast will increase the sink rate substantially. Just practice good throttle management (avoid excessive speed & consequent flutter). Let us know how it works out.

I think I will go ahead and do it. Am a bit concerned about prop clearance with a 12 inch prop. We fly off grass. But don't want to put longer landing gear on. Anyone know what size a 3 blade prop would need to be to be equal to a 12/6 to 12/8 two blade prop? Thx for your feedback guys.
