Default Hanger 9 Cap 232 40

I recently purchased a Hanger 9 Cap 232 40 and put it together, following the instructions very carefullly. On the first flight the left horz stab came completely off the plane. I managed to get it down in one piece (In a tree), with only cosmetic damage. The wing is what stopped it unfortunately. I didn't know I had the skill to fly with half of a stab! I repaired the damage that night and didn't think about sending it back to Horizon Hobby for replacement b/c I bought the plane to fly, not sit in a warehouse! I put 2-56 wire w/ plastic clevises on all the tail parts like strut braces for support, carbon fibered the horizontal stab, and epoxied the crap out of it, then covered it back up. On the wing I had to patch the gaping hole and braced it with carbon fiber. In the end I only had to add three small weights, one on the right wing and two on the nose. I took it back to the field yesterday and it flies like an arrow. The only problem I have with it is, even at low rates, it will snap very bad. So don't follow the instructions on the elevator low rate throw, calm it down. I called Horizon and told them about my dilema. I was nice about it and really just wanted them to re-write the instructions telling people to put strut braces on the stabs. Their customer service was so nice that they sent me a new wing. They had no proof that I even bought the plane and didn't even see any pictures!! They just sent me a new wing. One up for the Horizon Hobby PR! I am very pleased with the way this horrible experience tought me a lesson and also pleased with Horizon's Customer Service.
