Default GP Gene Saucy Extra 300 ARF (engine?)

I have just purchase the GP Extra 300 ARF. I am wondering what types of
engines guys are using in this plane. I would like to go gas. What gas would be
good combo. I am not into 3D just normal aerobatics and flying.
Thanks
Rich

I have one...I can't using a gas plane on this plane. If you want gas go just a bit bigger and get a 50cc. If you go with a small gasser like a G-26 I can see it being overweight/underpowered.

Just my opinion. I know some in the big thread stuck a ZDZ 40 on it... I have an OS 1.60 which was cheap and it balanced perfectly and vertical is real good.

I think something like a ZDZ 40 will be a good combo, especially if you're not into 3D. Like most Gene Soucy owners I've heard from, I also have an OS 1.60 and I like it. Just keep in mind this plane's dry weight is about 13.5+ pounds with a glow engine. With a gasser, you will be adding an extra pound more or less.

Yeah, for run-of-the-mill non-3D flying an OS 160 is the way to go. The CG is right on and the engine is the most reliable I have ever used. I flip start the 160, and only have had a rough time once or twice (not primed enough).

Go with a top of the line 40 to 50cc engine (lightest possible) if you go gas, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses. I have a supertiger 2300 that I had on the GP Giles 202 Arf and this engine pulled that plane like it was nothing. This is what I might put on it. I thought maybe a gasser would be nice but I guess the weight of one is not the way to go.
