Fly,
These people who jumped on the Vectorflight bandwagon like it is the greatest thing since sliced bread would loose face if they admitted that it is not "the greatest value in RC modeling". They get together and make a thread that talks about the wonderful "find" and then trade ideas on how to fix the shortcomings. Then someone like you comes along and says something "negative". I have had a Vectorflight Extra for about a year and don't fly it that much. It's a little heavy, the landing gear structure is weak and the belly pan is a joke. It does fly well so I have to agree with you that there a few things Vectorflight needs to improve on. The best way to improve the situation is to talk about it and give constructive criticism like you have done.
Keep up the good work!
Bob

Fly,
Tsk, Tsk... I'm not going to put the plane in a Navy uniform. I have some ides on stickers and decals to represent my time in the Navy. I have been in contact with someone that will cut custom graphics for me. I guess I'll have to make a line drawing of the plane to dress up so I can show him what I am thinking.
If I was a Marine it would be easy, all that red. I may just hold off and put them on a plane I kit build so I can start with a fresh clean background.

Please post pictures of the Navy's version of the Edge when you finish.
I have to say that VF quality and finish of the plane's covering is quite nice as delivered. It would be hard to cover it with something else.

I have never seen a VectorFlight Plane covered in anything but its stock scheme, so I would be very interested to see one done in a different color scheme. I have had ideas about recovering mine different, but I don't think I could get up the nerve to remove that pretty covering. Not to mention that my Plane has zero wrinkles now, and it would surely have a few when I was done covering.

I've been following this thread for a while and I'll try to offer my honest assessment.
I love my VF Edge.
The build was challenging.
I upgraded some of the hardware (but I always have since my first ARF).
I made some mods during the build, including building my own belly pan.
My Edge flys like it's on a rail. It flies better than I do - but landings are still tricky for me.
Pilots at my club pull up a chair to watch it fly.
There are not that many offerings of scale or semi scale aerobatic planes in the "60 size" out there, but I haven't seen one that is superior.
It's cool to have a plane in this class that is not H9, GP, or TF.
If I crash mine tomorrow, I will immediately order another one. - and isn't that the true testament?

I don't want to stip it down and recover it. That's why I'm giving some thought into a few different things I can do with all that red.
Sometimes I just leave the ARFs alone and dress em up like the company suggest. Sometimes I leave off their stickers and use my own design. I have a couple of kits I want to build this summer that I can just cover anyway I want. One of those will get my wild Navy theme regardless of what I do with the VF.
But I am not stripping that bird down. That would be a crime and I can't break the law. Well I shouldn't anyway.

The build was challenging.
Thank you for posting your positive experience with VF.
Are there anything you would like to see them improve upon? If not, please say that also.
You said the build was challenging. Are you being serious or saying the opposite? If serious, what aspect was challenging? Because up until now, all the other fans are saying what an easy build it was. I don't agree it was an easy build with the supplied instruction manual. I thought a couple of areas of the Edge build was not "normal" for the ARF world.
You said you built up a belly pan (I saw it on the VF build post, very nice looking). Wouldn't you want this already done for you by VF?
Lets work together to make VF the "Best ARF that it can be".
