Default Super Stearman

I have purchased a Great Planes Super Stearman and a Satio 150. I would like some comments from folks who fly this airplane, what do you think about her? I consider my flying skills in the advance -"rookie class".

Watched the maiden flight of one this afternoon. Fellow was more used to flying the smaller electrics and was somewhat apprehensive about it since the wind was kicking up a bit. Our local biplane expert test flew it for him and trimmed it out and only a couple of clicks here or there was needed. The owner then flew the Super Stearman on the next flight and exclaimed how easy it was to fly and and how well it tracked through the turns. He looked like a pro on the first flight. It has a g26 and it looks to be just about perfect for this plane. Good luck with yours.

I have about 25 flights on my Super ?Stearman, I have a F:PE 2.4 (40cc) and it fits ;perfect inside the cowl. No added weight, cg came out perfect, it does 4 ;point rolls just beautifully, knife edge, rolls, and the landings are incredible.

The Great Planes Super Stearman is an ARF. Plans for ARFs are not available.
If you just want Super Stearman plans, and not specifically the Great Planes version, you might be able to get plans for the Midwest Super Stearman kit. Contact Midwest. Search Google for Midwest Super Stearman and their site should be in the results.
Also check RCM plans service and AMA plans service to see what is available.

I also have built a super steerman with the capability of having a wing walker. However, I am nervous as to how it will fly with a figure on the top wing. It appears you used a barbie doll which is pretty near scale. I planned to use Ken. So, what can I expect when I place the doll on the top of the wing. I will be taking pictures and I shall send you some. Thank you in advance for your assistnace. Jack

Hey Jack, It flies fine with Barbie on the wing, also have flown with Ken. Just requires more throttle, noticable increase in drag, no other adverse effects. Would love to see pics. Jeff

Thank you for your reply. You have me excited. I thougt it would take some hocus pocus. Like move the cg. I have flown the airplane and working out the issues. However it is beginning to fly very good. As for the pictures give me a couple of weeks but they are coming. I love your custom changes to your aircraft. My plane is a replica of Bill Herzog's california plane. Thank you again. talk to you soon. Jack
