Still waiting for ups to pickup plane, now I have to pay for half the shipping cost, I called everyday for 5 days to finally get the label but find out from ups that I have to cover half the cost. Meanwhile no refund to my credit card, just think if I had a another plane shipped I could be paying for 2 planes going back.

Hey guys,

I'm just finishing up my GP Stearman with a Saito 125. While reading the Saito instruction manual I noticed it recommends that the tank center should be about 5mm below the carb center. But with the inverted mount, as per the GP Stearman instructions, my carb will be below my stopper. Is that going to be a problem? Have you guys been lowering the tank? I think I can lower it an inch without too much trouble.

Pilotfighter:
I did not lower the tank and have had no problems. I also have a Saito 125. You will enjoy that set up! Your plane looks great! good luck!

Man, I had my heart set on this ARF but the covering problem sounds nasty! Anyone have any updates on the covering problem?

I think I had one of the better ones. It took a couple of hours to straighten out. But, at least I didn't have to replace any. The ailerons were the worst.

Yea, I'm wanting one. $359 price for club members at Tower and then you get $50 off of that and $30 rebate. $269 for that plane isn't bad at all.

At that price it's worth it. It's really a nice plane and Tower was good about replacing any parts needed. I maidened mine last wkend with the DLE 20 for power, a real cruiser if you want but plenty of power for loops etc. Where do you see it for 359?

Here's mine finished off now. I have the cowl off to tune the engine, it's running pretty good now. I flew 15 min on about 6oz of gas and no gooey mess to clean up. I changed the wheel to Robart scale wheels with the foam inserts to minimize bounce on the landings. Nice plane. Now I have to hook up the smoke system I picked up the hat at the WWII weekend in Reading,Pa. www.maam.org Great show every June with lots of warbirds.

Hi Raptureboy.

A friend of mine has tha same plane. I saw in your pics the battery packs on the engine mount. How many weight (lead) did you add to the nose to balance it?
What do you think about a dle30cc?

Thanks.

No lead was needed with the 2 batteries. The 20 flys it well and is scale like at 1/2 throttle. The 30 would be overkill, but if you have it use it, and just throttle back. I would get not use the CA hinges as both my ailerons broke loose in seperate flights and I have now changed all the hinges to nylon pin type hinges epoxied in and pinned with 1/32 music wire through the hinge and the edges of the control surfaces and trailing edges of the wing. Boy it's a little scary flying with one aileron hanging down[X(] I learned to use the rudder early in my training and it sure paid off getting my plane back in one piece. I don't understand why GP makes an IMAA legal plane and then gives you 40 size hardware[>:] Change it out for giant scale hardware.

Ordered a PT-17 Stearman from Tower on Friday and it got here today. After hearing all of the bad covering stories I was surprised to find my plane had perfect covering. I just had to go over a few seams to make sure they were down good and that was it. I'm putting a DLE 20 with a Pitts muffler on it and probably run a Vess 17x6 or 18x6 depending on clearance.

Good choice. I've had mine for over a year. Started with an OS 120 FS. Now has a Zenoah G26. A bit too much power and propped down a bit. Flies great. The 20cc should be great.

Does anyone make wing bags big enough for this plane?

Is this plane suited for short field landings.
My personal field I can fly 60 bipes no problem but there is now way I can land my 30 cc MX there.
I had a H-9 sopwithcamel and landed it fine on my runway,
