Default Voltage question

I am new to li-ion batterys I have a powerflite with 4 cells redundent setup. After a full charge on the li-ion packs I get a reading of 7.8 volts on my hangar 9 voltmeter. Now I know the voltmeter is not really used determing voltage for li-ion packs but I just want to see if this 7.8v sounds right. the HANGAR 9 DIGITAL VOLTMETER I think is putting the battery at a 300mah to 400mah load. I just want to make sure the batterys are reading as they should be as I hear they should be at 8.4 volt at full charge but I think that is with out load?

Thanks

I know it may sound obvious but can you get your hands on a volt meter that doesn't load the cells and see if that shows 8.4 volts.

I am no expert at all on these cells so cannot make any other suggestions.

No doubt a guru will post next !

The nominal voltage of one cell is 3.6 V so a 2 cell pack should be 7.2 V. Once charged, the cells will be at approx. 8.4 V but under load that voltage will soon decrease towards the nominal value.
From a voltage point of view it seems to me that your batteries are O.K.

I usually test the capacity of new batteries by discharging them over a known load in order to make sure they are allright before putting them into an aircraft. Voltage measurements alone will not tell the whole story.

You will find some practical advice on Li-Ion batteries here: [link=http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/LiIonBatteries.htm]http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/LiIonBatteries.htm[/link]

Default RE: Voltage question

Allot of radios and servos say max voltage of 6 or 7 volts, how does this affect users of these type of packs ?
