Default USL Hatch?

Hye guys,

I have a Hanger 9 Ultra Stick Lite running a header tank set-up. The problem with this is the tank compartment is REALLY crowded and it's hard to move the tanks around... But a guy the other day at the field (had an internal line break) suggested I cut the "ceiling" of the tank compartment out and us some triagle stock to put screws through. Has anyone done this? Or will it work?

If you're talking about making a hatch in the top of the plane behind the firewall, yes, I've done it to two of the US lites. I actually made my hatches on the bottom of the fuse. I carefully marked it making sure I had enough room next to the former to install some small tri-stock. After checking it out, I marked the bottom of the fuse where I wanted to make my cut and using a metal ruler for a straight edge I cut the hatch out with a #11 knife. Using the knife made the cut so narrow that I could use the piece cut out for the hatch cover itself. Cut some tri-stock to fit inside and glue them it leaving enough sticking inside the opening to screw the hatch cover on. Take some red mono or the like and cover your edges and you may even have to sand the cover a bit to make it fit. The fuse of the lite isn't as heavy duty as the old 120 thats why I put it on the bottom. I did it because it was almost impossible to get all the stuff in there for my G26 without a hatch.

Here is a picture of Suitcases 120 hatch from the old crashed fuse. You will notice it is the bottom of the plane. This mod makes it easy to service your fuel tank.

I'm running a ST G2300 with a 18X6 and ran the stock gear for a while, but later switched it out to CF gear from graphtech.. It's the same height as the stock gear just wider, so no you dont need dif. gear

I ran a 18 on my old 120 with a ST3000. It was so close I cut some off each end. With my G26 I used the recommended 16x8, and it was close for my taste. On my Big Boy I use the 17x6 with gobs of clearance. I may go to a 18x6.
