Balsa USA Phaeton II or Sig Hog Bipe
I'm trying to decide between these two. This will be my first biplane, and the only thing I heard was that Balsa USA's instructions was not all that great and that their kits had small parts count compared to Sig.

phaeton vs hog-bipe
HI----
HAVING BUILT AND FLOWN BOTH, I WOULD GO WITH THE HOG.----TO BE TRUTHFUL, MY PHAETON WAS UNDERPOWERED. HAD A 90 4 STROKE, BUT OVERALL THE HOG IS BETTER

Just no way you can beat a Sig Hog bipe for all round good flying habits.
Stick a .91 4-stroke up front and you will think you are in heaven.

My best friend built and flew a Hog - what a GREAT flying plane (I took it up a few times).
I think they look great and have a nice vintage attitude about them.
I wish Sig would release this plane as an ARF.
He had a OS91 FS on the front and covered it in hunter green 21st Century fabric. This plane NEEDS a four stroke on it.
I have no experience with the Phaeton.

'nother 2 cents worth.
The Hog Bipe even flies well with a Magnum .91 4-stroke.
Take care and enjoy that Hog - best thing since sliced bread.

I fly mine with an FX 61 Awesome power !!! Nearly unlimited verticle........I may try a surpass 70 next. It really calles out for a 4-stroke
