Default Ultra Stick 60

I have a Ultra Stick 60 and a Saito FA 90T Flat Twin engine. This is probably an older version of the engine although it has never been run. I understand that these older twins are low on power. What does anyone think about this being a good combination or should I go for more engine (Saito FA 90S)?
Thanks for the help.

Go to at least a Saito 100. This one has a 100, it is a little down on power because of the added weight from the floats.

Good Luck, you'll really like the plane. I do.

Thanks Juz. What do you think about a Ultra Stick 40 as a home for the Saito90ft?

Juzplanekrazy1. That is the coolest looking Ultra Stick. What do you weigh with those things on there? Do you fly a lot off water?
Thanks,
Barry

Wow thanks Barry, I sure have a ball with it flying off the water. A new found RC love for me. I have found the Float Plane guys are a little more layed back then............well other's.
The U.S. Beach 60, it's around 9 lbs +/- not a rocket but not needed for water.

Concho..cohcochoooohooo...LOL. Oh Hell yes, a saito 91 will fly a 40 U.S. for sure. I had a US 40 with a OS 60 on it and Wow what a ride. But a Saito 91 on a 60 size.. nope not enough in my book, min. 100.

Thanks Just - I was wondering where you do your off water flying. I fly with the Palomar RC Flyers in Fallbrook, CA.
On the U.S. question, I'm thinking for a Saito 91FT (the older model) on a. U.S.40. I know the older twins were down on power a bit.
Thanks,
Richard

I don't know about the 91 twin on a 40size US. I don't know that engine to well, but it sounds like it would be to heavy No.1 for a 40. But for a 60 size I think it would be up to the task. After doing some reading on the FA 90T you mite want to go with another type engine, if for anything reliability. IMO....A 100 for the 60size and a 60 size engine for the 40.
I've been flying off water out in Gillman Spings, and other local Lakes at various Float Fly's. Lake Parris and Lake Casitas. I fly off asphalt in Irivne at El Toro, it's all good.

Hi Guys,
I know first hand, that the Ultra Stick 60 can handle a large motor.
I put in a Thunder Tiger 120 side exhaust 3.2 HP engine in mine. Just needed to butcher the motor mount and it fit. I installed a 4 cell 1100 mah battery as close to the tail as possible, Plus 6 O.Z. of lead under the very end of the Fuse. It ballanced perfectly with 4" light wheels and quad flaps.
Believe me it was still a floater.
***But when you applied full throttle, it would do an unbelievable job of going verticle like a bullet using the weakest 15X8 prop.***

Be ready to add tail weight with the .90 Saito. I fly my 40 Ultra Stick with a Saito .80 and it is more than enough, but then that's what throttles are for.
I'm having a ball with it.
