I am looking at purchasing a 1/4 Scale Edge 540 ARF Kit, I have looked on the net and seen a few very impressive kits.
I live in New Zealand and it is rather difficult (and expensive) to find good quality kits that fly well without having to import myself..
Can anyone recomend a good kit that is avaliable in NZ?
I know I can buy a CM Pro 90 size model from Galtech Models for only $615 NZ (that is a very good deal!) I spoke to the sales person today and he had very good things to say about the Kit, My main concern is the Colour Scheme.. He said they come in two schemes - A Stars and Stripes (USA) scheme and a Standard "Waves" scheme.
I have not seen a picture of either scheme - Does anyone have a pic?
Also - I can easily get a VMAR 60 size kit locally - Any thoughts on this kit?
I saw a good one last night too - It was by Hanger 9. A UK kit - but rather expensive...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated - And it would be good to see some pics of the colour schemes.
Thanks a lot,

yes the cm pro edge 540 is great aeroplane ,I no two people that have them they fly well. I have seen no problem with them but only the low price And thats great when it comes too models.
I would not go with vmar as they are CRAP they full apart and some of the aerofoil is not right on them and they have stick on covering but the cm pro edge 540 has iron on profilm/oralcover.

Funny you mention that...
I did actually buy the CMPRO Edge 540, and on about the 5th flight it fell apart!
Well, wasn't quite like that... I had an engine cut out in flight and had to bring it in for a forced landing in long grass. The landing was not the softest I admit, but it pulled the undercarriage block right out and took half the fueslage with it. There was simply not enough glue holding it together. I got it back together ok and made sure I reinforced the joints with plenty of epoxy.
The other problem I had with the edge was the colour scheme - I got the stars and stripes model and I found it horrible in the air (same scheme both sides). I ended up ripping the covering off and recovering it in black and white with yellow trim. It looks much better now, and flies not too bad. I am still having problems with my engine tho, I put an ASP 1.20 up front and have had engine cut outs about every second flight, the muffler has come loose about 3 times, and now it seems to be overheating! I can't win!

I believe it is the same Edge 540 sold by Giantscale Planes and Flair Models. I bought on early last year and basically did the same thing to it. I didn't like the color scheme so it was changed to blue and white. I also went through the fuse and added some extra support in the critical areas. Mine had a G-23 on it and it flew the plane great, it came in right at 11 lbs minus fuel. Here is a pic of mine and some links for more info.

Finally! I have got My Edge 540 flying properly!
I have had so much trouble with my ASP 1.20 since I bought it, But a wise man from sweden told me that I shouldn't be running anymore than 5% Nitro in my fuel. I mixed a batch of 5% and No Nitro and flew it tonight, and guess what - It ran best on no nitro!! Didn't overheat, no power loss - It was actually enjoyable to fly knowing that the engine wouldn't die.
It is not such a bad plane afterall!
