I have a gp extra and have decided to use the bme 50 for power.
ordered the engine from chief, they said run a 22-8 for a prop. I beleive this will not have enough clearance, I asked them about a three blade mejlik at 18-10 or 19" has anyone run this engine in this plane with the 18' or 19'.
cheif recommends a 22-8 while on the bme site they say 20 inch.
HELP!!!!!

BME says a 20" for the BME 44. They do not have any info for the 50 yet. I am using a 20 X 8 on my BME 44. I would call Keith at BME or try a 21 X 8. I am building the same plane for my 44. I think your clearance will be okay. I may be wrong though.

The BME50 that SMALLFLY is refering to was mine at one point and if he says there is clearance, then go with the 22x8 the BME can definitely turn this prop. Another intersting idea would be a MENS S 19x10 3 blade. I ran one on that BME50 and it turned nearly 6600 rpm. THAT"S ALOT FOR A 3 BLADE!!!
