O.K. Folks !!! Here we go !!! I am ordering the Vector Flight Edge 540 Arf and wanted input on what size engine would be a good match for this size plane. It is about 8 to 8.5 lbs., 66 inch wing span, 57 inches long. I currently have a very good strong GMS .76 but I am thinking that this may not be enough engine for what I like to do. I won't be using this for any 3D type flying however I am one who tends to overpower every thing I own. Its much better to have that power there when its needed as long as you don't create excess wing loading. I will be doing IMAC type aerobatics with this plane and I want unlimited vertical performance so I was thinking about ordering the GMS 1.20 for this plane. Will this plane handle that size of engine? I have been reading on the fourms that people are putting 1.00 and 1.20 4-strokes in these planes but wondered if a 1.20 2-stroke would be to much? any advice.

there is a ton of info here:

I'm going to maiden mine with a Saito 1.00 in about an hour..
from what I have read.... as long as the weight is in the ballpark, it could work... I would think something like a .91 2 stroke would do nicely too....

I can agree with you that you tend to overpower everything you own. But personally I feel that this plane dont need it. There was plenty of people why tried the Saito 120 but the extra weight of the motor didn't go happy with the plane. The .75 should work for general flying, but not unlimited. Personally I think the edge was designed around the Saito 100. With the 15x6 prop the plane will reach for the stars. If you dont want to use the Saito an OS .91 or magnum will be also be a great fit for the plane.
Read up on the thread, great information in there.

I fly the VectorFlight Edge with a Super Tigre.90 and it is a very sweet combo. Tons of power, verticle is excellent. The plane balances dead nuts on the book with the ST .90. Its an excellent combo.
