I've been trying to decide on a good 2nd plane to purchase when the worst happend. My Nexstar has gone down so I need to make a decision quicker then I was hoping. Can anybody suggest a good 2nd plane that is very easy to put together? Plus I'm hoping to utilize the electronics from the Nexstar. I may or may not use the engine as well. It hasn't been working so well as of late. Anyway, I have no experience building and I would like to get up in the air as quickly as possible. Thanks!

There are MANY threads on second planes, but universally the better ones are a 4*40 or 4*60 (4*40 would be good for all of your gear..I would assume)
or a Tiger...
both fly nicely and good to wring out....
but ... check with your instructor... maybe another trainer might be in order.... if you had problems with the first

If you want an ARF, look at the World Model planes. The Super Sports .40 size is nice and goes together quickly. It lands almost as slow as your trainer and can do basic aerobatics. The previous poster is right too, the Sig 4* series are excellent too.
If you want a builders kit, look at the Carl Goldberg series or one of the Sig series. 4*'s can be built from a kit or can be assembled from an ARF version.

Thanks for the replies everybody! I've been reading some of the 2nd plane threads and those look like the three that are most talked about. (4 *, Super Sport, Tiger 2) I guess my next question is, which one of the 3 is the easiest to build? I'm looking for something that requires the least amount of cutting and drilling. The more that is ready to go the better. I do want to start doing some more "building" but I rather have a plane flyable while I'm doing it. Otherwise I'm afraid I won't take my time with it and be to anxious to just get it working.
As for what happened to my trainer...I learned a tough lesson. Even if it has been over a week since you last flown, if there is a mechanical problem with your plane, land it right away. Don't try to keep flying with it. I think I have that lesson down pretty good now.
