Default Battery for 1/4 scale GP-202

Hey guys,
I building a 1/4 scale GP-202 with 5 futaba 3104 1/4 scale servos and one regular servo. Can I use a standard 600 mah battery or should I spend the money for a 1000mah? If so then do I need a new charger?
Thanks
Rick

RickP,
I have the same plane and I'm using JR4131's all around with a 1650ma NiMh battery.

The minimum I would use is the 1000ma pack.

I suggest you pick up a 1650ma NiMh from Dave Thacker at RacicalRC.com

http://members.aol.com/davthacker/ra...cbatteries.htm

They are $20 with the connector and shipping is only $2.

As far as charging, if your charger is putting out 50ma your charge time with a 1000ma pack is 20 hrs.
(Capacity of batter pack / charger output) = 20 hrs
This is what is call C/10 charging or charging at 10% of the packs rated capacity. Hope this helps.)

Default AA pack?

Hey Marty,
Thanks. They look great, but 1650mah in a 4 cell AA pack? Is this right, it seems a little strange, unless they are NIMH, then don't I need a special charger?
Thank you for the tip
Rick

They are Sanyo NiMh packs.
In my opinion, the best they make for RC use.

Your 50ma charger will charge them, but it will take about 33 hours. Therefore, you might want to pick up a Sirius Charger or something that can put out 150-175ma. To reduce your charge time.

Did you read the article Dave wrote concerning the charging of NiMh batteries? If not, take a look at it. It is on his web site.

definetly listen to marty, i only run 1600mah+ NIMH from radicalrc, sirius charger is the best charger i have found, i never use the wall charger anymore, i also prefer 5 cell packs, with a 600 mah pack you probably would spend most of your time quick charging at the field instead of flyn. the sirius charger is somewhat expensive, but thus far it has been well worth the price
