first, as with exeter and gjeffers, haven't heard great things about GSP. but the CMP CE, which GSP sells, is okay. it's construction is reasonably light. i don't know how you got 18lbs but at 16lbs it wasn't that light but flew still fine. the biggest problem i had was with the cartoonish pattern. the skyshark version is much better looking IMHO. i just looked at the GSP site. THE PICTURES ARE NOT OF THE ACTUAL ARF! the only one that shows the pattern of the real ARF is the picture of the unbuilt kit. THAT is the pattern. BEWARE!!!

There planes are just fine, you can order it here local in Oklahoma City from Mikes Hobby shop on NW 10th and May 949-1049. He has the 72in Extra in stock right now in his shop, if you want you can go and take a closer look at one in person. For the price of the skyshark why not get one of the Great Planes Christian Eagles. I saw one of those sitting in Mikes shop today also.

Here we go again -the issue is with shipping , Facts , planes are light , quality is very good , value is great especially in the warbirds .Most of the fuse in the kits are fiberglass . YOU need to be able to do some basic reinforcement here and there and check the key stress areas for simple fiberglass reinforcemnet .
GSP seems to have a problem with shipping cost , so simply go to Raidentech in ElMonte Cal , go to the website and buy GSP from them .
I have the GSP P40 , 73 " span , great value very nice plane , go to warbirds and see the on-line built and you will see the quality is very good .
I have no ties to GSP , but I think when people review a product ,they should try to state if they like the product , then rate the servace and or support .This way if the product is good you can seek out another supplier .

i agree with LDM, i've had several CMP ARFs and the have all been good. Thier fiberglass hasn't been that accurate but with a little work, everything fits together well. Quality of hardware cannot compare with World Models but it is marginally acceptable. wood structures are built light.
My CMPs
Yak 140 - Unbuilt - Seems heavy and absolutely NO INSTRUCTIONS
CE - Sold - Light built, strong structure, flies light but ugly IMO
Cessna Skylane - Sold - Strong structure, flies scale and very pretty
Baby Cap 232 - Unbuilt (if you know what I mean) - couldn't do much 3D but flew like a trainer... nice small size without too much instability. would buy one again!

GSP-CMP. Same crowd. I have their P26 "Peashooter" and apart from the usual upgrading of supplied ARF hardware and some mods of MY choice to satisfy MY personal likes, it's not a bad model.
I've had worse!

GSP isn't CMP. GSP sells CMP planes. There are other vendors that sell CMP. If you are not satisfied with GSP, don't let that stop you from buying a CMP plane that is very good value for money. I would hate to see a Chinese company that has come so far. Just compare their Corsair to their new Mustang or Warhawk. The latter two are just so much better quality. The three new planes from them are the P-51, the P-40 and the AT-6. These three are really very very good value for money. The earlier ones I would stay away from the fiberglass fuses. The wood models have always been pretty decent. Just my 2 cents.
edited because i typed P-50 instead of P-40! lol... i'm sure people were like "didn't even know that existed!" [sm=lol.gif]

I flew a GSP Corsair for a few years, and it flies just GREAT. WAAAAAYYYY off on scale. But I did not get it to enter any contest. It floats like a dream on landings. If the others that have said that the newer planes are better, then so much the better. I would still be flying it but the movers crushed my 3 big planes. I hate movers.

I tell I cant agree more , if you look at KMP -yes nice planes but the cost is about $200 to $250 more , CMP is great value and again for the money you cant beat them .
ALos if you are 100 miles from Pa , then you can easilt drive to the GSP store and see the planes before you buy them . That is what I did .

I've personally done business with GSP------ONCE
I won't ever deal with those bunch of sh*theads again.
They shipped me the wrong replacement canopy for the CMP Giles 3D. Shipped it in a box big enough to smuggle a horse in. Charged me $25 shipping for a canopy that weighed MAYBE 3 or 4 ounces.
I called them about it and they wanted me to pay the return shipping on the wrong canopy that they sent. Then they wanted to charge me another $25 to ship the correct canopy.
I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine--just not that nicely.
You can indeed get CMP planes from www.raidentech.com
I've bought 4 planes from them over the last couple years. Always UPS, and always on time. Never any damage. Well packed. They will ship the 3D Giles for $10. YUP--$10[X(]
They don't have a toll-free 800 number, and they only answer the phone from 12-6pm Pacific time--but I'm not complaining. Never had a reason to call them and complain anyway. Good people.
GSP is a bunch of jackasses.
