Default Hangar 9 Cap 232

Gentlemen,

I'm looking to buy my first "giant scale" plane to learn 3D and the like. I have a pattern, scale and sport flying background.

Is the 97" Hangar 9 Cap 232 a good choice? Is the Zenoah GT 80 engine a good match or is there something that will give me more bang for my buck. I.E. being able to put it in something else when I stuff the Cap! Can't beat the price on the Hangar 9 Cap! What are your opinions???

I have 5 flights on mine with the zdz 80 single and I really like it. Not a mistake to get one if you can. The zenoah twin is good but if you want 3D power the zdz 80 single is a great choice. Best of luck to ya. Jeff Williams

Default H9 CAP

AS Jeff said , it is a fantastic plane with the ZDZ 80 single !
We have 29 flts on ours and just love it. Look under Aerobatics and 3D flying post here and on RCO for many fine comments. It is the best
plane and eng combo i have ever flown and I've been flying many diff models for many yrs now, it is simmply wondeful and yes - the best bang for your buck indeed !! I only have about 2K in ours !
It will hover all day at mid idle and blast to the moon with full power and lands easier then most trainers. Just read all the post and you will get 1 for sure. Have FUN !! Rod & Chris in PA

This must sound like a broken record by now -
The ZDZ single -especially the single on a tuned exhaust - simply makes this plane a hoot! Power is just right - read that overkill.
I have mine setup for IMAC flying with the C/G centered on the wing tube -
Friend Steve - at sea level has his model (same setup) with the C/G just aft the tube and 45% throws.
He said that the waterfall ( outside tumble) is so instant that it simply does two in a row as soon as you poke it.
He also has a special H9 Extra same engine setup and lightened also to under 23 lbs. (I made some new wings and tail group for it).
The Cap is a better tumbler. We thought that would be the case ,due to the high thrustline.
We both are haveing a ball with these things - having waded through TOC planes - FAI stuff for years.
I am getting the new H9 Taylorcraft now to try with a ZDZ40.
These are great ARFS
ARF ARF!!
