Doug,
Amazing work! She looks terrific. The gear doors and access bay are impressive!

Vasek; Actually, I started this thread, lengthy discussion on retracts between me and Old Navy Flyer; much of what I have done is in this thread already.

Well, I've been following this thread and have read every post, so I couldn't help myself....everybody loves this plane so much I ordered one for myself! It should be here by Wednesday, which means that next weekend I will be MIA as far as my wife is concerned. Thanks for all the helpful tips to you folks who have built so far and I hope mine turns out as nice as the ones I have seen on this thread.

By the way, those are the best looking gears and gear doors I've seen on this plane yet. And the switch bay you have is amazing..what a great idea!

Heres a few more pictures; the 1st one is of the verticle fin; I continued the Invasion strips across it; 2nd is the exhaust cut our for the RCV 91CD engine, and 3rd is the puematic cylinders that open/close the gear doors.

Well, it's here....Only one minor problem...UPS (Uniformed Package Stompers) managed to poke a hole through the shipping carton, into the box, and dented up one of the wings pretty good. Now I have to work something out with Horizon Hobby to get a new wing. I hope it doesn't require sending the whole thing back and waiting a few weeks. Oh well...what can you do?

Horizon Hobby is hooking me up with a new wing set, which should be shipped out today....they really were a pleasure to work with.

After reading this thread, I have decided to order the H9 P-47 (65"). I will be using an OS .91FX with a bisson pitts. For right now I think I will stick with the stock retracts and upgrade later.

The stock retracts work fine. I have over 50 flights on mine and NO problems.

Good Luck

I've read through the whole thread and one person mentioned it, but I didn't see if anyone had done it, but what about modifying the vertical stabilizer to appear a little more scale. Don't get me wrong, I know that this bird is not meant to be entirely scale, but I wonder how much that would affect the flight characteristics.

Actually some models did have that verticle fin, not sure which model, altough I'm pretty sure 'No Guts No Glory' was one of the models that did not have the fin; I left mine on, but I continued the invasion strips across the fin, picture in previous post.

True, I believe those were the naval versions that had that tail configuration, I'd forgotten about that. I saw your mods and they looked outstanding. I especially liked the gear doors, very slick.
