I have one, but haven't put it together just yet. So far, I like what I see!
It is super light. Even comes with a nice, large, aluminum spinner; I haven't seen them do that before!

Jack, I have a MVVS 35CC gas engine that I think will pull it nicely.
I'm not into 3D, so I don't need that hovering power, just biiiiiiiiig loops...

Just put one of these Ulitmates together. everything fits well and looks great. I installed a Taurus 52 gas engine with smoke system. It swings a 22x10 prop at 7200 so it should fly great. Total weight is just under 16 LBS. No need for any tail weight and has plenty of ground clearance for the prop. Hope to fly this weekend!!!!

You say the brison 2.4 is adaquate....do you think that it needs more power? I have an Ultimate, still in the box and haven't decided on the engine yet. I was thinking more of a Brison 3.2. Do you think that would be overpowered? I don't do 3-D, just enjoy a few aerobatics and scale flying. Thanks for any input...deciding on an engine is why I haven't started building.

I got one coming and plan on using a DA50 in mine. Look at the AeroWorks 27% Ultimate it has less wing and is shorter and the all up wight is around the same. and the DA 50 is the engine of choice. So I think the DA 50 is the perfect match for all out Performance. A ZDZ 40 or 50 would work great to.I will get back once the building is underway. As far as adding tail wight no way, just move the batterys around "I never add wight only take it away where ever I can".

"One wing is good but two are better "

Count me in. I'll install a Fox 3.2 . Run 6 volts too. And don't forget to re-inforce the firewall and LG mount area. On the minus side, it's a too piece LG, may need a "joiner" for the gear like was done on Lancair and Shoestring. If this is anything like the Carl Coldberg Ultimate, this'll be a winner. One last item, dump the kit spinner [[:'(]] and put a nice Tru-Turn Ultimate style one on. Might as well do it right. MM

The smoke they're blowing in the catalog says 12.5 to 14.0 #... i see your plane is 16#? That's about a 20% difference.

I have a short time G-45 with EI that I had in mind for this Ultimate.. I'm not into wild tail hanging, just some good basic aerobatics.. That's at the top end of their instructions...Am I dreaming here??

You are dreaming...you would not be happy with anything less than a 50cc gasser in this plane. Check out the other GP Ultimate thread that is about a million pages long on the Ultimate for tons and tons of info on this bird.

Thank you, I have surfed thru ( not all 4300 of them) posts, and that is the position some are taking.....Also, one reported his Fuji 43 did a good job, and some are going with a 2.4 engine..The G-45 is a 2.7, and I had it on a TFGS P-47 at 23# and it flew it very well..
That's what this site is about....opinions and helpful suggestions..

I had an Aeroworks Ultimate with a BME 50 and with a 22x8 prop it had outstanding performance.

What about a Saito 1.80? I have one I am going to pull from another bipe. Will it be strong enough? The GP website recommends between a 1.8 and 2.1 4-stroke.

I'm afraid that the plane would suffer with the Saito 1.80
