Default Dave Patrick Ultimate-- The "big one"

Have not been here as much lately, but I just noticed that I can't find much on Daves Ultimate........... Did a search in this forum and came up empty. Are there any out there, or was production slowed. (Please pardom my ignorance[:-])

I'm in the process of rebuilding the DPU 1.2 . I bought it from some guy on the Universe and was wondering
if you knew where I can get a hold of a manual,or a down loadable one. I have a Moki 2.10, I know it's big but what the hell.
I'm trying to find CG and also where to mount the motor etc.
Thanks Rob

Hi guys, I finished my DP 1.20 Ultimate about two months ago. It flies with Saito 1.80 mounted inverted with stock muffler and JR servos, standard in the wings/throttle and high torque on elevator and rudder. I did replace the kit supplied gear with a carbon fiber replacement after reading comments on the internet that the stock gear was weak. The plane flies GREAT with the 1.80, plenty of pull and snaps like crazy at high rates. I'm sure it will hover but the pilot is lacking! I'll try and locate the kit manual to find the answers to your questions.

1) CG should be 1/2" ~ 1-1/2" forward of the top wing center-chord aft cabane mount. You will come out very nose heavy w/ a Moki 2.10 unless you mount 3 servos + battery pack @ the tail.

2) As for mounting the motor, the furnished motor mounts are crooked, so you will not line up right if you follow instruction. Just locate the motor mount *experimentally*.

The one I was talking about is the one designed for the 50cc gas engine--in the 70" WS area and the ugly color scheme. (Still, you can't beat DP designs--especially Ultimates)

It is not even on the website, so I guess not much is happening with it yet.

AJF--- I have had the "Big one " on order for over a year now. No Word!!! I will call Dave sometime soon and ask about it. I think it's dead, personally.

Rob, I finally found the kit manual for my Ultimate. Do you still need a copy or has the info listed here helped? Thanks, Doug
