The name means nothing.The manufacturer,weight,wingloading,control surfaces,engine and set up plus pilot abilties decide,which of these aerobats is more able.
You must state exactly which model you are comparing to which...
It is like asking is a Ford better at cornering than a Chevy?..again,an exact model and set up is needed for comparing..

Nirto is right.

Even an Edge--Yak--Extra from the SAME company might ALL fly about the same. It depends on HOW they are built and the specs of the airframe.

GENERALLY:

An Extra is a good IMAC or pattern plane because it has a long tail moment. Not considered the best for 3D. There are Extras that will 3D like nobodies business and there are Extras that won't hover for beans. It just depends on the manufacturer and the design.

An Edge is good for slow landings and 3D--in some areas. In other areas--an Edge sucks for 3D. Just depends on WHAT your trying to do with it and the DESIGN of that particular Edge. Not the best pattern flyer--because they won't stall when you need them too. Lots of newbies to Giant Scale like them because they land slow and people are intimidated by the size and speed with which they come in. The Edge DOES land slower than most.

Yak--I haven't flown a Yak--so someone else will have to chime in and highlight the strong and weak points of a Yak in pattern and 3D

NONE of these planes we fly are even remotely close to actual SCALE. They've all been modified. The control surfaces are HUGE compared to a full scale. The stab height is different. The wing shape is different. The engines are huge. The wing loading isn't scale.

Just pick one and fly it. If you don't like the way it flies--then buy a different one and fly that one. They are all about the same--but each has strong points and weak points. There is no perfect airframe.

I've flown the following, and these are my impressions of them:

Sig Cap 231 EX 25%--heavy pig that wallows around in the air and isn't good for much of anything. It's a terrible pattern plane and it sucks at 3D because the control surfaces aren't big enough.

Sig Extra 300S--about the same as the Cap 231. Sig 25% ARFs are WAAAAAAAAY too heavy for their size and they don't do much of anything really well. They are "okay" sport fliers, but thats about it.

Lanier Laser 200--flies like it's on rails. Light. Excellent pattern plane--but no good for 3D because the control surfaces are too small.

Hanger 9 Cap 232 25%--Flies GREAT!!!!!! Flies light at 11.75 pounds and will 3D pretty darn good if it's your first one. you gotta get the throws to the MAX if you want to 3D it--but it'll do it. It likes to be flown HARD--not fast. Totally different.

Hanger 9 Edge 25%--Nice flying plane. Generally a good sport plane. Does okay 3D and sucks for pattern. It won't stall--and you NEED a plane that will stall if you want to fly pattern.

World Models 80" 28% Extra 300S--My favorite. It flies pattern (IMAC) like it's on rails. No overrotation in snaps and rolls. Flies very light and presents BIG. Does 3D pretty decent--but not the absolute best 3D plane in this size. Hard to get it to stall--so I struggle with spin entry. Hovers very solid. Harriers with no wing rock. Lands slow.

Kangke Laser 2000--okay for pattern, but sucks at 3D because the control surfaces aren't big enough. Kinda heavy. High aspect ratio wing is not very good for 3D.

I'm building the BME Edge 540 28% with 85" wingspan. Can't say yet.

I'm buying the GP 1/3 Pitts Special next week--I've flown a friends--but it was underpowered--and I gave the TX back to him after about 30 seconds. Very dissapointing. No reason to underpower an aerobatic thoroughbred like that. Ruined the plane--in my eyes. Nothing worse than an anemic aerobat. MINE is going to have enough power to hover at 1/2 throttle. I'm sure my opinion will change drastically after I fly it.

40% Carden Cap 232 w/DA150--NICE NICE NICE--great tumbler and does 3D so good it feels like sex. SWEEEEEEET

IMO with models, it takes personal experience with a certain model to tell which flies good for each flying style.. Most RC Models are only similar to scale so it again depends on the weight, control surfaces etc.. I would say just to read through RCU.. Magazine reviews are ussually inflated btw IMO.. I have an Extreme Flight Yak 68" and it flies nice and will do everything in the book according to the videos.. I do not Hover because I have a Helicopter Good luck..
