I have one with a Mark 2.10 engine 20 x 10 prop.
It's a great flyer, on low rates it's like flying a trainer, high rates you get some really nice aerobatics out of it.
Landings are easy, I come in with little throttle, and flare out.

It's too heavy for the size.
I've had the 300XS and the Cap 231EX. Both are heavy pigs.
You can buy a Chip Hyde Cap X for $300. FAR superior design and lighter than the Sig planes.

I had one but recently sold it. Too big for frequent flying and transportation for me.
I had an O.S. 1.60fx on mine, and not really enough power for my tastes.
Nice flying plane overall.

Thanks , ok on the 6 inches , anyone know if there is any thrust right or or down thrust ?
I have an FPE 2.4 in mine and all I did was add the Sig flat 1/4" spacer to the firewall. There was no thrust angle unless there is one built into the firewall which it looks like there is not.

These are the specs from the manual. Engine 6" from the front of the firewall to the front of the drive washer. Thrust 0 degrees down 1 to 3 degrees right depending on you engine and prop choice. Sig reccomends starting with 0 degrees right thrust. Ailerons 7/8" up and down on low 1 1/8" up and down on high. Elevator 1" up and down on low 1 1/2" up and down on high. Rudder 2 1/4" left and right on low 2 1/4" left and right on high. CG 4.343" back from leading edge measured at fuse side balanced upside down. Sig also reccomends lateral balancing.

If built right with the OS1.60 It's no heavy pig! You must be one of those guys that can't get the hang of weight management!

You have stated that you are just starting out. I can't remember if you soloed yet or if your still on the buddy cord. But, lets just say--your pretty new to the hobby. You are going to jump into the Sig 300XS as your second plane.
Let me tell you something:
You have no idea what "weight management" is. You jusy got off a trainer.
You have never flown a 25% plane or had one untill this 300XS that you just bought. So, you really have not a single clue what it should weigh. You have no idea what ANY plane bigger than a trainer should weigh.
You have the gall and audacity to incenuate that I don't know how to keep an airpplane light? You don't have a clue. You don't know how many planes I've flown and how many I've built.
Let me educate you a bit:
I've been flying for 8yrs.
I've built 32 kits
I've assembled about 60 ARFs
I've scratchbuilt 3 airplanes from plans
I've flown glow engines from .46 up to 2.18
I've flown gassers from 31cc up to 100cc
I've had almost 20 Giant Scale planes
And you--fresh off the trainer--think you know all there is to know about the Sig 300XS ARF? You got the nerve to tell me I don't know how to build a light airplane?
You need to keep those comments to yourself and calm down a bit. Your going to choke on your foot.

Give it a rest guys! Rcpilet is correct that the 300xs is heavy but ONLY if your looking for a 3D aircraft. As an IMAC platform they are excellent.
Rcpilet's opinion of himself is another story.

All I'm saying is that I have enough experience to GIVE an opinion.
And wildchild isn't exactly a seasoned veteran of the hobby. He's just barely out of a trainer--yet he feels justified in slamming me for my opinion about the Sig ARFs.
I've actually HAD BOTH of the 25% Sig ARFs. The Cap 231 EX and the 300XS. I have put them together and flown them. I have the experience on the planes. I'm not just repeating something that I heard from someone else. It's a firsthand personal opinion from flying the planes.
If I had never flown the planes and I was talking outta my butt--then it would be a different story.

My 2 cents- I had one with a Saito 1.80. Had a great time with it and it was a very smooth flying machine. I think either I spun it in (or a servo came loose) on base to final. It was a spectacular crasher also. Anyway, not a great 3d airplane but an excellent intro to giant scale for me. I even bought another one to ease my mourning.
