Default Metal hinges!!?

Got a World Models Super Chipmunk I've started working on and I found out it has metal hinges already installed. Are these hinges reliable and will they stay attached to the control surfaces. I usually pin my hinges but see how that's possible. Maybe I don't need to. Anybody have any experiences with these hinges? Good or BAD! Thanks

Default Metal Hinges

The metal hinges are fine. Metal hinges were also included with my Aeroworks Edge and they work great. I only used them for my ailerons though because I chose to have my plane as light as possible so I used CA hinges on the rest of my surfaces. Just be sure to epoxy them in! Don't use CA to glue in the metal hinges. Good luck!

Thanks for the info Kevin. Problem is the hinges are already installed. Great looking job but I didn't do it so I really don't know how well it's done. Pulled on all the control surfaces and they seem to be glued in solid. Do you know if any other World Models arfs besides the Super Chipmunk that come with the metal hinges already installed. I guess if you can't pull them apart they are probably ok---I hope?

Mettler1,
Make sure you drill a hole and slot in the rudder for the tail wheel control BEFORE you mount the fin/rudder assembly. I learned that the hard way!

Hey Dave, I'm sure you would do your best but I lack faith. I've seen your ailerons depart from your airplanes a few times. OOPS!! This is a public forum, isn't it? Sorry, Tom

Default WM metal hinges

I was also pretty surprised when I noticed the metal hinges in The World Models ARFs.

I've got lots of hours on three World Models ARFs and I haven't had any trouble with the hinges, or any other part of the planes other than the soft landing gear wire....

Enjoy your airplane!

Thanks for the info everybody. I feel better about the hinges and World Models in general. Think I'm going to like this plane. Have an O.S. 91 4 stroke to put in this plane. One of the reasons I choose this model besides it's good looks!!
