No, but It should be a nice flyer!
No word yet, everyone's waiting for the ARF to come onto the market I think they're shipping sometime this spring? Maybe someone could varify the ship date. Should be a nice plane...

There was talk of it becoming available early 2002, but they've seemed to have pulled out of that prediction. Chief aircraft had it listed on their site for sale for a while, but I'm sure removed it from the number of inquiries. No other websites posted any information about that I'm aware of.
There was a story about it in RCReport by Dick Pettit reporting what he saw at the 2001 RCHTA Show. A 78" WS, 1.6-2.2 glow or 26-33cc gas recommendations, seven servo's, and plug in wing and stab panels.
AnnMarie Cross and Dick pettit wander these halls from time to time... hopefully they'll happen across this thread and straighten us out.

I have had one of these planes on backorder forever. I heard from a reliable source that Great Planes has a warehouse full of these ready to ship. The only problem, I was told, was that Great Planes didn't get Patty Wagstaff's approval to use her name and/or color scheme. So it may be awhile before we start seeing these planes ship. Ohio R/C did the same thing with their Pepsi Chipmunk scheme, but eventually they started shipping.

Patty Wagstaff is not the only person flying this paint scheme, saw another in Florida that is flown by a man but can't remember his name.
So they could just leave her name off if this was the case.

Guys,
Check WM extra 300s 80" ARF, which is available in the market. I got one last week, it is very well built and does have a similar color scheme as GP one.
I am putting it together these days and going ZDZ40 gas engine, love the plane, WM did a nice job again.

The WM Extra dosnt do it for me GP went the extra mile with the details on their extra which to me looks far better. I've got a Moki 2.10 for the GP Extra which will be a good match.

Well, it is your choice. I compared both the planes at the Toledo show and found out that WM has more details to match the full scale plane than GP ones.
For instance GP does not have flaring for the LG where it meets the fuse, secondly LG has a nice attachment with the wheel pants and cowl has air fins at the bottom to make it more realistic. I am also pleased with the construction of the fuse as well (WM).

I feel it will be worth waiting until Christmas for it. The outline and canopy are more scale on the Great Planes Extra from what I could tell.
I do like the looks of the landing gear fairings on the WM unit, but the rest of the plane does not look right to me.
And of coarse the instructions will be complete with photograghs and written instructions from Great planes. Did the WM Extra have that?
I'm sure the WM plane will fly well. I am hoping the GP model will fly better and weigh less.
Time will tell.
Where is Mrs. Cross?
She could tell use whazzzzzzzzzzz up.

The gold trim on the cowl of the GP Extra does it for me, I don’t care for the wheel fairings simply because they would be of abs and wouldn’t last long. I agree with you Skypilot that the lines of the WM extra appear off and I’m sure GP had to make changes also but in IMHO I think GP has designed a far prettier airplane.
Thanks
