Kyosho F-16 DF ARF any problems
#2
I have serious doubts about this planes thrust to weight ratio, size, and wing loading. I don't think I am the only one. I don't want to be the one to shell out $500 just to find out this thing flies like an underpowered brick. Please bear in mind I have not flown the plane, and I could be totally wrong, these are just my first impressions. So far this thing is an unknown quantity.
If anyone has bought and flown it, I would also like to know how it flies! (So I can stop spreading all these VILE rumors)

Get yourself a Hotbodies A7 Corsair, it'll cost less and fly better. You can pick one up at towerhobbies for about $350. Theres also the Toki 18 thread and the hotbodies A7 thread that you can read up on. Its a winner.

I second B1's suggestion. I had the Kyosho F-86 and, although it was a beautiful and well-constructed plane, it's flight characteristics did not justify the price.
The A-7 is not only lower priced than the Kyosho, it also has a bigger motor and has the ducting already done. Ready EasyTiger's write up in the Jet forum. Neither the Kyosho nor the A7 are speed demons, but they are nice intros to ducted flight.

rcman84341,
A flying buddy of mine had one of these things, and it wasn’t much good. With the standard motor and 7 cells, very marginal, only capable of the odd roll, the performance was just faster that the stall. With 8 cells, it was better not enough power for loop from level. The speed was quite slow. I would guess that 10 cells and a brushless will work better, but you are now talking big money and I don’t think the airframe is up to it. Problem is with this kit, high drag, low thust. Have a look at the JEPE web site. These guys have sorted out EDF models, capable of 150mph- unlimited vertical- not cheap though.

This Kyosho F-16 is the glow version with gf fuse......
Ive had the EDF version myself, and it flew like crap.
but it was mostly my fault. I used some too heay cells with it.
My LHS also has th glow DF version...........wouldn`t dare to buy it

The F-16 from Kyosho is a easy fly and land plane , this pull engine is more powerful than the A-7 18 pull engine .
Must use 30% fuel .
We had 15 F-16 flying in H.K. every weekend , good fun flying together .
