Hi, i have gotten a Cap 232 46r made by world models and am thinking of putting either a OS.70 fl, a ys-63 or a saito 82 engine it, would anyone like to post suggestions on which motor to use for this arf?

The SA82 and the YS63 will be about the same in performance. Both will turn up to a 14x6 and that is a lot of thrust for the CAP which is about 5 lbs only. The YS will give you a really nice idle and transition. Also, the YS63 wants to run at 12K RPM. Having run the YS110 and then the SA100 I still am more keen to go with the YS.

Any of those engines would be a nice combo. An OS 46AX or 50SX for 2 stroke. I have an ASP .91 4 stroke and admitedly it's too much power. I fly at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. I only use full throttle to accelerate straight up! If I were to do it all over again the Saito 70 or 82 would be prefered due to the lighter weight.
Enjoy the plane. Its a real nice flyer.

I'm getting ready to build mine and went with the YS .63. Same price but lighter and better performance. Try it with a 13X4W APC prop and it should dance on its tail.

I am picking up mine Saturday and I am using the os .46ax from my Rascal that crashed last weekend. I was doing hard rolls and the tail section snaped off in mid air, down she went.

That's the only complant I've heard. I have one with a 46AX. It weigh barely 5 lbs and flys nice. No 3D of course, but flys nice.
It is a CAP though so be ready for the SNAP when you go too slow. I've trimed my tail feathers and left aliron to help it but it's there if you let it get slow enough and pull the eleavator hard enough the wing will roll the other way rather quickly
Good Luck

LennyJ,
I have the ASP .91 four stroke in mine. As Splatt said, you may have to re-do the landing gear as have I. With the stock gear, I was bending back the gear after every landing. I ended up installing some Dubro gear. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNM65&P=0
As for power, if you like vertical, you'll love the combo. I can take off in about 10 feet and keep climbing straight up forever. [X(]
I usually fly at 1/2 throttle.
As for the ASP, double check ALL the bolts periodically. The cam cover bolts came loose on mine. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't idle... [&:]
Other than that, it's a set it and forget it motor. Try a 13 or 14/4 APC, you'll love it.
Now if I can just get those rolling circles down.

i had the original with a 46fx - was a dream! flew so well... and the 46 was light so i had no problems with the gear. flew flawlessly all the way to the end

This is my favorite!
WM CAP w/Saito .91
I,ve flown this model for 5 years now. Beautifully overpowered, and rock solid.
After 16 gallons of YS 20/20, and 300+ flights the .91 finally gave up the ghost.
lost an exhaust valve retainer. My theary, after seeing some mettalic particles during cleanup is the crank bearing started to fail and particles got into the valve guide. The valve stuck and retainer came off. Cost 82 bucks to rebuild, and runs perfect

Thanks for the reply, It seems like some of you guys are using .91 asp engine. Thats a reliefe. I was looking at the weight problem with this engine. Almost 200g heavier than os 70 or saito 82. Anyway she will fly.
Thanks
