Hi all
Our lhs has a second hand world models Rambler. Would this be a suitable second plane? I am fairly confident with my World Star 40, and would be moving an OS46Fx across.
Any thoughts? What's it like to fly?
Thanks
Peter

Only concern on the Rambler is the preinstalled retracts. If you fly from grass, you'd probably do better sticking with something that has fixed gear. Otherwise go for it, the Rambler is a great flying model.

The Rambler 40 was reviewed quite favorably a while back. You would be going from a flatbottomed trainer to a symetrical AND low wing craft at the same time though. They said it was such a sweet flying plane that this should not be a problem. Personally I like the Rambler 30 and I will probably put an OS 32 in one. No retracts on that one.

Ernie, I don't think the OS .32 would be enough power for the Rambler 30. I flew mine with a Magnum .36 and it was a dog. I put a Magnum .46 in it yesterday but forgot the wing at home so I didn't fly it.

Worldstar is not flat bottomed but semi-symetrical. The Rambler .45 will do fine with a .46 fx but nothing spectacular. A practical step up. AND... I just happen to have one NIB
good luck.
good luck.

Thanks for your help with this. I had a look at the plane yesterday - it looks to be in good condition, although I didn't realise that it had an inverted engine mount. Is it possible to fit an OS46fx sideways?
Thanks again for the help.

Peter,
the rambler 45 can have the engine in any position, including upright. My irvine .53 is in the standard upright position with no problems at all. just rotate the mount to the position you prefer and bolt it up.
