Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for an everyday flier, something to just throw in the car and have fun with. I already have an Ultra Stick 40, but have gotten a bit bored with it. I'd like something a bit better performing without spending too much cash. Right now, I'm looking seriously at the Tower Kaos 40 ARF, but would like to hear more options. Not into 3D, more the fast aerobatic stuff. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave

I used to have a Dura-Plane Trainer 40 that would do killer flat spins with a .46FX. It was a real beater that could be smashed and remain flyable. Just a thought.

Dave,
I've owned quite a few Kaos's and have always been happy with them. I'm just getting back into this after 20 years, and decided on the Seagull PC-9. I read a lot of posts on this and I am installing it with a .60 engine to give it more pop. I didn't know that there was a ARF Kaos around or I would have gotten it instead. I would still plan on using a .60 in it. I like to have the extra power available.

H9 Aresti--point and fly pattern aerobat. Should be lots of fun....I recently maidened my first pattern ship (not the aresti), and it was a blast. I love flying it. Very responsive on the controls. Flies like silk--handles like it's on rails...Think about it. Kaos--should be a good choice too!

Thanks guys!
2slo2matter, I'm currently building an Aresti. It won't quite be a "beater" though. Saito 82, JR DS811 digitals, 649 PCM rx, Tru Turn spinner, etc. Made a couple of mods to handle the power, namely, replaced the horizontal stab ( a known weak point) with one made of solid balsa, glassed the wing center section, sealed all control surface gaps, reinforced the firewall and landing gear, etc.,etc. Very much looking forward to flying this one!

4*40 or 4*60 ARF
Not exactly fast--but tons of fun.
If ya want fast--then get a pattern type airplane or maybe an old style pylon.
GP Little Toni or GP Minnow.
Or maybe try one of these:

Possibly a World Models Sky Raider Mach II?

The plane sells for about $70

I already have a few speed planes but speed is good! I've looked into the old style pattern planes, but they are a bit pricey for beater use. The GP racers were also considered, but I doubt I could make myself build one without throwing a Jett in it. The Speed Air you posted a link to looks interesting.
The World Models planes have a great reputation. Will look into those. Didn't realize I had as many options for a cheapie.
Thanks everyone !

My beater plane is a World Models Aircombat Zero. It's not pretty and looks nothing like a zero. Since it's a .25 size, it's small enough to fit in the car with the wing on. I've flown it with 3 different engines, Saito .45, OS .25 FSR, and OS .32 FSR. The .32 is what's in it now. This plane flies great, and is plenty fast. I often fly it in conditions that others won't, cause after all, it's my beater plane.
