Of the 3 above mentioned planes, which will be better for a beginner 3d plane? Which is built stronger?Which flies better? I like the magic extra, but I read that the covering of the magic extra is not very good, while the other two are translucent covering that I am afraid might give me orientation problem. I have never done any covering before, so I really don't wish to step there. Can I use those Adhesive-backed monokote trim sheet under the wing on the covering to give better visiblilty? Is it just stick on and does it last? I am powering it with a tt pro50, so power is somewhere in between a os 46ax and os50sx. Using standard sized electronics, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

zyklon_chichi,
I can oly speak for the Pheonix Funstar and I think it is a great plane for beginner 3D. It is my first 3D plane and I felt it is really easy to fly and experiment with. As of orientation, I didn't have many problems, just occasionally, but not much at all. I actually purchased some red and white trim sheets to put on the bottom of the leading edge of the wing but I just can't get myself to put it on as the plane looks so cool the way it is. I have an OS 50SX on it and I can pretty much fly it at almost an idle. It will pull verticle pretty easily from a hover. I have an APC 11x4 on it now but I have also tried the APC 12.25x3.75W and can't decide which I like better. Got more RPM from the 11x4 though. As for stregnth of build, I think it is built pretty tough, I had a few harder landings with no problems and also had my clunk come off during a take-off which made the engine cut out probably about 15ft off of the ground and it pretty much stalled and dropped flat down on the ground like a pancake and I had no damage to the plane. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

I have flown all 3 planes (my Harrier was the 90 though), the Funstar is great to start out with ... the Magic Extra will start to fall apart. The Funstar is easy to build too, only issue is the throttle cable, use a cable of you can but if not the wire is ok but you need to use 2 of the balsa blocks to guide it properly, the wing will touch the wire/cable if you do not use guides.
Power wise the 46AX is more than enough. Standard servos are ok too. Orientation wise I never had any for translucent planes. Enjoy the plane!
