Default VectorFlight Website gone

[&o][&o][][] I was doing my periodic check to see if anything has changed with VectorFlight, and tonight I go to check out there website, and it is gone. Needless to say, I am very dissapointed! What a great Company they were, and what an awesome Plane they built! Be real hard to ever replace a class act like VF if they never return![][]

Are you sure the COMPANY is gone, or just the web site?

I am not familiar with VectorFlight, but it does seem pretty odd that a company would just, disappear overnight.

I do know that the company is closed as of right now, or is at least not selling Planes anyhow. I can't say what there future plans are, and I do indeed hope they make a comeback. I was just noting that the VF website is now down, and I am wondering if this happens to be a bad sign?

They were an excellent Manufacturer to do business with, and they built some very fine aircraft! In my own opinion I just think they were not making enough money on there Planes, and wanted to hurry and get shut down before the Christmas rush. They were swamped with orders the Christmas before, and I think they were not prepared to try and meet all those orders this Christmas, and not be able to turn much of a profit. I can imagine they found it awful hard to compete against cheap imports. VectorFlight built a good Plane, they sold them cheap, there Customer Service was the best in the industry, shipping prices were good, and it was all done here in the U.S/Canada! While there business practice made them a very good name, I am sure it returned them very little profit! Best ARF I have ever owned is a VectorFlight ARF, and I have owned several ARFs from other Manufacturers.

From what I understand from the owner, the company is gone for good. He could not compete with the asian manufacturers. I have been an owner of a VF model back when they were in Maryland under the name of Epic RC. I had made several recommendations for improvements of the Extra model and one of our moderators flew one of the first modified prototypes after I moved on to other, larger, aircraft.

I agree that we will miss this north american manufacturer. He was very customer oriented and would make improvements if he understood what was being suggested. He and his class act will be missed.

CRUD, from what I read, he could have raised his prices and modelers would still have bought them....

There were a couple small things that could have been done that would have allowed them to up the prices. The main thing everyone always griped about was the wheel pants, and maybe just a few other small trivial things. There was always very little to find on a VF Model to gripe about. So if these few little things could have been fixed, they could have certainly up'd the price some gotten more into the made to order aspect.

Im still not giving up on them.. My plane is sitting in my hanger ready to go, just dont want something to happen and have it gone and not beable to get parts. I can agree with everyone that it was a very good company with very good customer support, and an awsome product to boot.

Of course I remember you. Just seems like yesterday we were all in the VF 540 edge build forum discussing mods to do on our VF Planes! Glad to hear you still have yours.

I bought the 66" 300 and it crashed on maiden. I thought it was radio problems but just got my servos back from Hitec and they're fine. The plane is totaled however. Lucky I didn't have my truturn spinner on at the time. It did $150 damage to my YS 110. and broke my Hitec receiver. It did great till it got about 60ft up and it rolled left. I slowed it down with opposite stick but it rolled again soon as I released it.

Sorry to hear about your loss! Sounds like a pretty costly crash, and it would be especially dissapointing on the maiden flight of a new Plane.

That's exactly how I feel. In fact, after buying and flying my VF Edge, I have always thought that his planes were UNDERpriced. No doubt there is a spot reserved in heaven for that man.

I've paid $250 for 60 size planes before. The 66" VF Edge I bought was $159. Considering how much I love the plane, I would have easily paid another $100 for it. I found these planes right after I got into the hobby so the day I ordered the Edge was great day of excitement. It lived up to all of the hype and those guys at VF were absolutely wonderful. I've never had a company respond to an email so fast - even on a Sunday night at 11:00 PM.

Any questions you had that they thought others should know the answer to they would send out a bulletin to all of their customers. Incredible customer service and I'm going to miss them

I've never seen a tougher plane either. I did some dumb landing stalls (including the wasp stinging mishap) which would have totalled other planes. The VF Edge survived them all. Mine is still flying great. I had it out three weeks ago and it performed flawlessly. I'm just very careful with it now. And glad I ordered spare parts , covering , decals and cowl before they closed.
Gonna miss ya VectorFlight.

p.s. Nice memorial Ray !! "sniff, sniff~~wipes tear from eye~~"

You sure bring a lot out to the field there.. haha.. Like the little get up, pop-up 2 lounge chairs, all you need is a cooler with a 6 pack and your ready to go. <--- not that im promoting drinking and flying. Bad combo!!!

Well personally i think those cheap priced chinese models were no competition with VF. Those other models dont have half the quality VF put in their planes. If by chance like greatplanes or hangar 9 (to name a few) had the same model they would have charged double what VF was pricing them at. Telling ya they are gonna come back better than ever, nothing but positive thoughts!!!!

What a loss!! if charging more for their planes would make them competitve in the market, I would gladly pay more. The quality and customer support were exceptional.

Yes, but you're replying to an old thread. Last post was in January, Vector Flight was gone before then.

Water under the bridge. We'll miss them, etc.

Every once in a very great while a Vectorflight Plane will show up on ebay or here in the RCU Marketplace. You might also find someone who may respond to your plea for parts here in the forums. They are out there, but my my advice would be just to have patience and keep your eyes peeled.
