My son and future daughter-in-law bought me a Hangar-9 T-34 Mentor .40 size ARF for a present. This particular gift has a lot of special significance to me and it came to me with a lot of love from my son and future daughter-in-law. [sm=sunsmiley.gif] I am not ready to fly it and probably won't be for 6-9 months. [sm=crying.gif] I want to go ahead and put it together though. I have a lot of time to do it carefully and properly and I want to do that.
My question is directed to those of you who have this plane or a similar plane. What modifications did you do to make the ARF more airworthy? [sm=confused.gif] What modifications would you recommend? [sm=confused.gif]I am not very accomplished at this hobby, although I am very devoted to it. When you respond, please keep it simple so that I can understand.[sm=drowning.gif]
Thank you very much!

My first question would have to be, what type of flying do you enjoy the most. Most modifications are made to keep / make the model fly and do the type of manoevers that you like best.

I would suggest painting the engine compartment, fuel tank compartment, and floor of the radio compartment with epoxy thinned with Isopropyl alcohol. You can find the 99% stuff at the drugstore. Rubbing alcohol will work also but not as well.
I would try to reinforce the firewall around the corners. If you cannot get in there to put triangle stock around the edges, Put regular 30 min epoxy down in the tank compartment with the nose down. Roll the plane around so the epoxy flows into all the corners.
Enjoy,
Jim
