Default Great Planes Ryan STA-M Engines

Has anyone ever installed a 25cc gas engine in this bird? I have one and want to go with gas. Thanks Robert Cline

This is the plane a really regret ever selling.[] I had a YS 1.10 inverted turning a APC 16-6 9450. You have to get the robart landing gear, it really improves the ground handling and looks. With the little YS it would climb out at a 75-80 degree angle for ever with a 10 foot ground roll. I could do a loop as big as you wanted. Would a 25cc engine fly it good, I would say yes. Mine took of and flew the pattern scale like at 1/4 throttle. I have an itch to buy it back since the fellow I sold it to never did anything with it and offered it back for the original selling price. I sold the YS so I would be in the same boat as you. Looking to put a little gasser in it. I sold it because the YS was thirsty for 20-20 and it broke two pattern headers from vibration in one summer.[X(][X(] (I had a scale exhaust system)

I dont know,, but I think that a G26 is a tad bit heavy for the Ryan/M . I had one with a OS 120 that was a perfect combination and enjoyed flying it before one of the hurricanes diminished my collection. Many fliers have flown it with a 91 successfully. Try a Magnum 91 FS.

I have flown mine with a MVVS 26cc gas engine, flew absolutely great, using the engine in another model at the moment hence plane is laid up for a while.

So do you think a Saito 100 would do a good job with the GP Ryan?

The Saito 100 should fly the plane OK since it's a slow flying plane with generous wing area. On the other hand, you might need to add some serious nose weight.

The Saito 1.00 would fly it fine. My ys 1.10 would take off scale like at 1/4 throttle.

Hey, Bpannier did'nt the cowl need major surgery? I am tempted to try my G-26 but I would hate to start hacking away. I may just drop in the OS 120 invert it and go do some loops before I whack my fingers off. Mr. Exacto I ain't.... any pictures would help. Thanks mikel-t
