Default Good Question

I have not tried flaps on mine and this may be a dumb question but when would flaps come in handy. I do not do a lot of fancy flying but I am starting to and what a great plane so easy to fly. I had a friend mine hooked to a buddy box and it was great for that. Would you mind telling me where your CG is. I bought this plane used and haven't tracked down the manual yet. I can probably download one from Hangar 9. Thank you

Default Flaperons on Pizazz?

I've been flying mine for a couple of weeks now with an OS 61FX. I coupled the flaps/spoiler to the elevator hoping for some wicked loops. I really didnt see that much difference. As for landing speed, it lands so slow I wouldn't even bother with flaps. Most people have found the recommended CG to be extremely conservative. On my first flight I had to switch from low rates to high just to fly it safely. I have now flown it with the CG at 4 1/4" and will move it back another 1/4" before the next flight. I am having fun with it but am disappointed at how sluggish it flys.(except for rolls!) I still havn't been able to do real spins and knive-edge has more roll-coupling than I expected. I'm finding out that maximum deflection actually makes snaps and spins harder to accomplish than with more moderate throws. Too much aileron wont allow it to initiate a spin. So far, I've managed a fast spiral with only rudder and elevator. I have run out of room to move equipment inside and am now adding tail weight. If I ever get the CG figured out I will add dual servos under the stab for elevator control. I already have one servo under the rear bottom of the fuse for pull-pull rudder.

Rab, If you still need the manual, email me and I'll send you mine. [email protected]

Default pizazz with os61

I have the same setup with an OS61. What prop have you been using? So far I put an 12.25 x 3.75 on the .61. WWWAAAYYY too little pitch. next, put a 12 x 10 (was the only thing I had at the field - way too much pitch. ) Was wondering if you put a 13 or what? Think I will settle in with a 12 x 6, gonna try that tomorrow.

I've got a 12-4 on my OS 61FX and feel pretty satisfied. I think a 13-5 will hover it better, but I need to get larger wheels for prop clearance.
