I have an OS52 in my Spacewalker 11, perfromance is ok but I'm having some issues with the engine. I am considering replacing it with a Saito 60 twin but this is a heavy motor compared to what is fitted atm.
Do you thnk the 60T would be ok, or would the extra wing loading spoil the overall performance?

I think its probably overheating. Its fitted inverted, starts ok but gets very noisy when its up to temp and seem to have little power.

Hence my thinking of changing the engine for a saito 60 t . Alone from the fact that I like the idea of a twin, I should be able to mount it with the cylinder heads outside of the cowl, so it will look good but more importantly, keep cool.

I'm a keen fan and flyer of the SW2.It really flies a treat. My winter project is a SIG 1/4 scale. On the power front,I use an Irvine46 2 stroke, which has oodles of power and thrust for this model.Having read the various threads,I can't but help wonder whether there is another SW2 kit is out there with lead mounted firewall demanding a huge engine size.I get a fifteen engine run on the supplied tank with spare juice on landing. The Irvine runs like silk.

I'm flying it with an OS .46AX on the SW II with an APC 11x6.
The plane has plenty of power with this combination.
I had earlier tried it with an OS .46LA and was disappointed, in that it seemed to lack power this way.

If you are looking for more power, the 60 twin really isn't the ticket. It puts out about as much power as a .40 2 stroke. A buddy of mine has one mounted on his 40 size cub and swings a 12x6 prop - the performance of the plane is not at all over the top, rather its a bit sluggish- even for a cub. The look and sound of it, though, is awesome IMO.
Granted, it will probably outdo your 52 but the weight gain will take away from that.

If I were in your position, I'd be working on providing better cooling and dialing in my O.S. Max .52 4-stroke. I think you have just about the perfect engine on your Spacewalker II, you just need to get it running correctly. If you can get a 12x6 propeller turning around 9500 rpms without your engine overheating, it should look, fly, and sound perfect.
You have the perfect engine for your airframe, now you just need to get it to run right.
