Hangar 9 Cub
Does anybody have experience with the H9 cub ARF? My LHS tells me this is a good quality plane and flies well. I'm thinking of an OS 71 Surpass in it. Any problems out there?
I'm sure this has been hashed out before, but I can't seem to find it.
Thanks all!

RE: Hangar 9 Cub
I'm afraid I had a couple of problems.
Although they were small and I am able to correct them I didn't find Horizon particularly willing to make things right.
Here is what I found.
The "N" number is on the wrong wing...no big deal but if they are presenting this as a scale appearing plane this is a gross error.
My instrument panel fell off...I can glue back on but it should come properly attached.
And finally my rudder pushrod sleeve was glued in so crookedly that it was unusable.
Horizon told me to just rub some soap on it!
Good luck with yours if you decide to try one.

I've had good service out of mine, and it flies very nicely. Even if the numbers were on the proper wing, it wouldn't win much at a scale meet; it's a stand-off scale model, which means it looks scale when you stand WAY off and look at it. There's more that it needs than just numbers changed around to make it a finer scale, but what the heck, it's an ARF. I like mine for relaxing float-flying, I have a .72 Saito on mine, more than enough power.
I don't know which one jlkonn has, the old one or the new; mine is the older 80 inch one. The new "PNP" / ARF is nicer in terms of scale, but both are good planes. Enjoy!

I saw one at the field the other day, very nice. I love the wing struts, they are a huge improvement over the old version, and there are some improvements to the tail, too, plus the plug-in wings are much better than the bolt-on. The landing gear is also much better. Still not as scale as kit-built, but at 50-50*, looks fine.

RE: Hangar 9 Cub
Thanks!
A couple of questions:
-What's the pushrod setup? I hope it's not "Gold-N-Rods"!
-How easy/hard is it to get the proper CG, (I have a Tiger 60 that needed a lot of nose weight).
-Any other significant mods necessary to make it a "good" plane?
Thanks again!!

Nothing special about the setup, how much weight you'll need will depend on your engine and battery size and where you have to locate everything. The control rods on mine were plastic tubes with metal (2-56 size) control rods. Seems like my friend's newer version had wooden rods, but maybe that's what he put in.
Just a good basic ARF.
