Default Mounting fuel tank on CG??

I'm looking for comments on mounting the fuel tank on the CG instead of in the nose. I have a phoenix sukhoi and have enough room to mount in centrally, just not sure its the best thing.
Any comments??

I mounted one this way in a TF Giant Scale P-51.. it's ALMOST at the CG..just a little forward of the CG .. works great with the DA 50 r engine. I notice no trim changes during the flight...

I'd use a Cline regulator. The distance is usually too far for the non-pumped/regulated engine to run well in all situations.

the best advantage is that during flight there is no changes in the CG as the tank empties, your trims will not need any change from beginning to end and flight characteristics will not change.
the plane only gets lighter!!

the disadvantage is that your tank will be farther away from the carb and your draw will be hampered unless you have a pumped engine or use a cline regulator as Joe says above

Oh I forgot to comment on how much I like tanks on CG. I can't stand when planes dive because of a full tank. Then you have to change trims constantly. All mine are on the CG now, spoiled.

Myself used an OS120 pumped on my GP Extra 300 .60. Loved the configuration since I never needed any trim changes during the flight, only as meantioned, was getting lighter thru the flight. A built in fuelpump on a rather heavy engine in the end saved me all-up weight since I did not needed to instal an external pump with all the extra and take the weight penalty.

just not sure its the best thing.
It's ALWAYS the best thing to mount the tank on the CG, provided that you have a mean to pump fuel to the carb (muffler pressure alone won't do it). I always mount the fuel tank in all of my warbirds on the CG. I only use YS four strokes and gas engines, so fuel draw problem is a non issue.

Here is a Dubro 16 oz tank mounted right on the CG on my H9 P-51D Mustang:

Here is a GP 15 oz tank mounted right on the CG on my H9 Corsair:

Here is a Dubro 20 oz tank mounted just slightly ahead of the CG on my WM GS Zero (was not able to move the tank further back):
