Normally, a Yak cowl has a lot of louvres that can be opened. Your cowl has none, so you can only open the cowl behind the engine. The open area should be at least twice as large as the air inlet area. This inlet area can be made quite small by placing a disk in the cowl front. Make an opening in the disk in front of the engine, so that all air that enters, indeed flows there, where the engine is located. Two small baffle plates each side of the engine will further prevent the cooling air from going astray.
