Default Cox/Pica Waco, to be or not to be?

I see there is no longer any info on the Cox site about the coming Pica Waco ARF. Anyone know if this is still a go?

If it's anything like the big 50cc Pitts 12 ARF they were supposedly going to put out, dont hold your breath. I've talked to them four times about that one, and it's always the same story... "we changed designers" or "the prototype needed a change or two" or "we're shooting for the first of summer, fall, etc...". My opinion?? Dont get your hopes up.[]

Uhhhh, you can always find a 1/5th scale PICA kit on ebay, or here on RCU, and build it. It's fairly easy, and it will have some of you in it.

I thought you had one for sale here at RCU and sold it, Tailhook a few weeks ago. I sold my 1/5th kit about six weeks ago.[sm=tongue.gif]

HOORAY>>>HOORAY !!!! I got antsy and spent the money I was saving for the Waco on a Hangar 9 Camel....... Would still like to get that WACO. Think I'll wait to see a report on it to see if all the glitches ( if any) are fixed.

I like the photo of the Cox Trojan, as it looks like it's of the quality Cox used to put into their control-line models. Hopefully, Cox can bring back all the older models in the PICA ARFs. Wouldn't it be nice to see a Cox P-40 Warhawk in a PICA model, with the two-color green camouflage scheme they used in the control-line model? I bet that would look sharp. And then the Stuka, a chrome corsair, P-51 Mustang, Miss America, Bushmaster (with floats and wheels both), Grasshopper, Cub, PT-19, and other goodies. Yup, I'd like to see Cox back to being its old self. And yes, a full-color Cox catalog should be standard with each plane they sell. It's a real bummer about the .049 engines, though.

If you get a chance to look at the new MAN, the waco is on the cover and the plane looks like one real nice ARF. Quite large and nice scale lines. I hope they really bring a nice element to the table and give GP and H9 a run for their money. Its good for the whole market (the consumer included) based on the write up in Model Airplane News, I will definately be a buyer.

Well, this one did not start out as an ARF, but it is now.

I got an e-mail from Mike Fitz this morning. He is in China doing the final inspections and approvals on the WACO prior to them being shipped. They are coming.

Cox has the ad on the website. It's easy to find, and the price is still $379.95

And they give an expected date for the 1/6th WACO

http://www.coxmodels.com/prodinfo.asp?number=006109

This one is in the size and weight range of the new Skybolt ARF.

My 1/5th is on order,, I love Waco's and just don't have time to build,, barely time to put an ARF together..

As long as we get them in time to finish them as a winter project, I'll be a happy man

BTW, just got this.....

Hi Paul,
Hopefully we will be able to ship the PICA 1/5th WACO the first or second week in November. Sorry for the delay. We will be contacting all of our customers when they come in.
Thank you for your inquiry,

Check on the last 2 or 3 pages in the Waco YMF thread in the Vintage and Antique forum. One of the brothers has one for sale New and in the Box. Of course, you would have to build it, since Pica never offered the model in ARF form. I think that this one is the early version, and thus is more desirable.
