Default GP Patty Wagstaff Gas Engine Q's

I have a GP Wagstaff Extra 300. I am going with a 50cc gas engine. I have the DA-50R on "order", but who knows when these will actually ship - besides, I am way down the list. I'm thinking of going with a ZDZ 50. Does anybody have experience with these engines? Quality, reliability, ignition intergrity, etc.? I just want to make sure the ZDZ 50 is going to provide me with the 3D performance (hovering with a strong excellent pullout) I want.

Also, can anyone recommend another 50cc engine to look at? I want something light weight so Zenoah's and 3W's are out. I also want an engine that has mufflers readily available and want to stay with electronic ignition. Help!

THE ZDZ WILL BE AS GOOD AS THE DA. aLSO LOOK AT THE BME from chief aircraft they are in stock. The last I checked with RCshowcase the zdz will be available late jan. The same as the DA. I purchased the rcs 44 twin, but wish I had waited for the ZDZ or Da now.

Does the BME 44 have power comparable to a ZDZ 50 or say a Brison 3.2? I have also looked at Brison 3.2 but like the added benefits of rear induction.

Anybody know "real world" thrust figures for the following engines? These are the ones I am looking at purchasing:

BME 44
Brison 3.2
ZDZ 50
DA50R

Look at the database at RCFAQ.com
You will get real world figures on many different engines and propellers.

I saw this model bundled with the MVVS 2.15 gasser (?) on the Chief Aircraft website. Anybody know if this model would have unlimited vertical with this powerplant?

Thanks!

I have a BME 50 on my GP Wagstaff Extra. I only have 5 flights so far but it takes it vertical forever at less than half throttle.

You should look at the BME 50 not the BME 44 as it has extra power in the same size casing. I got mine from chiefaircraft.com. I am not affiliated with them at all.

It is a great running engine and IMO a perfect match for the GP extra.

d4a2n0k,

I looked online at http://www.bmeengine.com and they only show a 44cc, not the 50cc. I could not find it on the Chief Aircraft site either. Am I missing something?

3dflyer Go to www.chiefaircraft.com. Click on radio control, click engines on the left, then click on BME engines up top. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and the BME 50 is right there. Its on the same page as the BME 102 and BME 80. I cannot give you a direct link because of the way that Chief has their website setup.

Its there though. I have no clue why BME doesnt even list the engine on their website. It does exist

Also, dont bother with the pitts muffler unless you really want it. The cheaper of the two packages they offer comes with the muffler thats in the picture. It is about 4 ounces lighter then the pitts muffler they offer.

Default PROUD to have ZDZ 50

It works. I have not tached it; found no need to. Pulls mine straight up forever. Check out my webpage for any info. Haven't measured thrust, either.

I know if works, though. Because the 22 x 8 Pro ZInger on it turns fast enough to make a VERY short takeoff run, followed by an immediate pull to vertical and fly out of sight in a SHORT time.

Don't know about the BME, except there is one.
