I've recently took the leap from 40-70 size planes to the 100 plus size, power on these big birds is amazing, and they fly more stable. I've had a few of those Sportsters and they fly well, but they seem to land very fast. I had the 40 size, and the 25 size electric they went right where you pointed them, but took a long time too bleed speed off on landing.

You don't use bolts on the aileron horns. You drill the holes out to 1/16", (not all the way through), then thread in some sheet metal screws, remove them and harden the threads with thin ZAP and then attach horns with the screws, not bolts.

Those bolts are for use on the elevators and rudder only.

You can also use sheet metal screws on the rudder and elevator if desired, but be sure to harden the wood with CA first.

BTW, there's a possible problem with the landing gear that I just discovered this past weekend.

If the wheel pants get off to one side beecause the axle comes out off the hole in the side of the pant, the wheel will lock up.

Try landing with a locked wheel!

It will twist the gear legs back and the tip of the pant will go through the bottom of the wing.

No other damage other than a very slight bend in the gear leg.

Has anyone else had a problem with elevator flutter?

Would a Saito 1.25 be enough power to fly this airplane?

Probably minimum power, but certainly way too little nose weight

Is anybody out there using the Fuji 32 EI for their motor on their giant super sportster? If so, where and how did you install your electronic ignition components. I am looking at installing it in the open are on the bottom of the fuselage right behind the motor. Any suggestions?

Hope you solved your problem by now. In case anyone else stumbles across this thread and has a similar question, I just finished GSS#2, the first one had the ignition inside the fuselage. I like the ignition in the space behind the engine. I did need to put some zip ties on the ignition lead to keep it off the muffler. They are not shown in this picture.
