Hi Chris.I built the kit version a few year's ago and it flew like a miniature pattern plane,great so i just had to back order one of these from Tower.The duratio of flight time is much better with metal hydride batteries so if you subsitute these for nicads you will get longer runs. I'm on my second of the original ElectroStreak kits. Don't know about the new ARF version, but if it flies like the kit version does, you will love it!
Flying my E'Streak is like guiding an arrow around the sky. Rock solid, stable, does exactly what you tell it to do. I wish they had a larger version for glow power!
I use a Kyosho Magnetic Mayhem motor, 1900SCR packs, stock prop and a Kontronic speed control.

My Electrostreak has been the last kit I've built for a while... too many ARFs in the queue!
I specifically built mine to take advantage of the high-voltage e-power systems available. I'm using 10 2000 mAh nicads, an Astro 15 FAI and the matching Astro ESC - I think it's a 215. I'm also using a 7x6 Aeronaut folding prop. I'm pulling just under 47 amps, static - I get about three minutes at full throttle.
I had to make a few changes while building the plane in order to fir the big pack. I moved the rudder and elevator servos behind the wing bulkhead, and went to dual aileron servos. The battery pack just fits into the space beneath the wing.
Performance is breathtaking. Very groovy, very fast. Mine lands at a fair clip due to the extra weight, but is perfectly manageable. Mine also has the distinction of being the only electric plane that has exhaust stains on it - that 15 FAI puts out a bunch of brush dust!

I think one of the most popular modifications to the E-Streak.... the one that make it an all time favorite among many electric fliers might be hard to pull off on the ARF. Of course, I haven't seen the ARF so I could be wrong.
What's the mod? Put the rudder and elevator servos behind the rear wing saddle former so that you can stuff two 5 cell sticks into the main compartment under the wing. Of course, this also requires a different motor/prop combo to work well. I used both the standard Astroflight 15 and the FAI version dirrect with a 7x6 and 8x6 Grish Bros. prop.
Both systems worked very well, but the FAI motor drew nearly 50 amps at the beginning of the charge. Better have a controller capable of handling 50 amps if you go that route! The standard AFI 15 works very well and I highly recomend it over the FAI motor if you want good flight durration.
BTW, I've built three E-streaks and I loved every one of them. Dumb thumbs are the only reason I don't have any of them today.

Have two of the older kit electrostreaks. One with Astro Cobalt 15 running on 10 cells (WOW is all I can say) and the other with 17 turn car motor running on 8 cells. This one flies well and long, but not as hot as the other. Also have 2 unbuilt kits. Have not tried the arf, but there is hardly any difference other than the fuse so it should be just as good and have heard that it is. Enjoy!
