US Scale Masters competition
I don't know how many of you live where there is a regional meet for the ScaleMasters Competition, but it is a great, fun experience and introducvtion to competion to take part in. There are two "beginer" class that allow ARF's, so you don't have to be a great kit or scratch builder to compete. Google US ScaleMasters and check it out... Here in Oregon this past week end allowed a lot of new people to compete. In Fun Scale and Open you don't have to be an expert builder, yet you can get out there and fly with the "Big Boys' "Try it you'll like it"

RE: US Scale Masters competition
I was there Saturday. I'm a SkyKnights member, so in the past I have usually been a volunteer helper.
I wasn't contacted about anything this year, so I just sat in the bleachers and watched.
Maybe I should build something to enter the funscale some year.

Howdy, It was a great weekend thanks to the Sky Knights.... Come visit OMAS this next weekend, open house and flight exhibitions. Check the web site, omas-rc.org for directions and times. Look me up if you make it, I'll be flying my lawnmower at least once. Cliff

RE: US Scale Masters competition
My very first visit to any field before I bought my first trainer kit was an OMAS open house. I took my Son who was probably 11-12 then. He's a junior at UO now. We saw a lawnmower fly, and it was just funny. I can't describe it, we just laughed at a flying lawnmower. Maybe it was yours. I am on call for work this weekend, but I may have to come into Portland for a few hours for work. Maybe I can sneak out there, too! I want another look at the pond out there. Thanks!
Congrats, Scalebirdman. I watched 2 rounds, what were you flying?
I almost always take pictires, but left the camera home. SkyKnights appointed an "official" photographer a few years ago, but I haven't seen a single thing go up on the site since. I used to take most of them and upload all of them before that. Oh well[]
Here are some I took 2 years ago, before being "relieved" of my position:

Enjoy!

rcmiket, Here's a couple, it takes a lot of time to upload, so I don't do more than two at a time, I can do another set in another post. The Mustang is from Calif. and is Monokote aluminum, brushed with "oo" or "ooo" steel wool, and has screws and rivets embosed in the finsih. Had an inline twin that sounded rreally different but good. I don't remember what kit or size plane. The high wing is scratch built fabric and paint finish and is a Stinson model "O", only about a dozen fullsize built. This plane survived a really bad looking ground accident with a Cub, both survived to fly 5 rounds of competiton,

Very nice. It does take some time to upload but thanks for the effort. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the ScaleMasters, One of these days I just might get enough guts to go and embrass myself.

The Cub is 1/3 rd and has a 4cyl Pegasus (3.2c.i. ithink) from Vernon B.C. Great model, with finished interior. The second is a XP-66 77" kit. All parts including retrcts, cowl, cockpit kit and ground adjustable scale (or close to it) three bladed prop. I have the name of the kit producer, but I'd have to look it up if anybody is interested.

RE: US Scale Masters competition
This will be the last two I'll post, but there were a lot of WWI and vintage planes there also. All the flying was great, and the best weather this contest has had in a long time. The F3F had two in flight emergencies, both retract malfunctions, and both ending in gear up landings without any damage. The B-25 did not fly, and I have no info on it, it is a beautiful airplane. If you want to see a bunch more, go to the link N70R has in a earlier post....four pages. Cliff

NO WAY will you embarrass yourself... It took me three years to get up the nerve to do it, and I'm wondering why I waited so long.... A great bunch of people and you feel that you are at your home field. There are no strangers there, just friends you haven't met yet.... Cliff
