Default World Models 1/3 Scale Cub

I have started several times cutting parts for a 1/3scale Cub and seems I always get distracted by other projects. I saw on their web site a 1/3 scale that looks pretty good, and prior experience has always been postive. Just wondering if anyone has put hands on this ARF,

This is a WM 1/3 ARF belonging to a buddy. It is a good model, everything fits, and it is pretty close to scale. It wouldn't take a lot to detail out and make it even closer visualy. He has a 3W twin, 65 I think, in it and is a good match. The plane flys well and very scale, lands like a feather in a snow bank. He changed the aluminum gear to a scale operating setup, and used air filled tires, a good idea. The only thing I saw not quite right was the cowl was about 1/2 shade off from covering, not noticable from 15 feet away. It's a big plane and a big price, but I think worth the money.....I think I have some in-flights somewhere, if I find them I'll post them...Clif

Here's three more pics. Can't say much more about the kit, I haven't heard any gripes about fit or quality and I couldn't see any thing that would keep me from getting one if that was what I was looking for. Good luck, it would be sortta hard to hide this from the other half.............CLiff

check out www.piperj3gear.com It is a great looking product. Fully functional design. You might look at one of the photos and see that the 1/3rd scale he uses is a little wider that on the WM .. It seems manufacters fudge a little on thier measurements.
Hope this helps........Cliff

Went ahead and ordered the cub from World Models thanks for all your imput , and help on landing gear info and ect. Any more info you can give me it would be appreciated. I am putting a FPE 4.2 up front . I bought one of the first Byrons 30% cubs 12 years ago when they first came out they are now the Model Techs cubs , same plane. I had a g 62 on it and it was a awesome flyer but i noticed the world models cub has the servos in the rear of the fuse which is easier and a better set up .

I noticed in the manual it shows the wing tubes for mounting the wings , in the pictures on this thread it show a alum. bar type mounting , i am curious which system is used now . I forgot to ask Airborne models which one comes with the cub now. I will be getting my delivered Wed of next week.

I recieved my cub yesterday and i am really impressed with the covering and over all quality and fit. All control surfaces are preglued , all hard points installed and drilled for horns. The wing tubes are even predrilled and ready to be mounted into wings with the holes for the wing tube screws predriled. This bird is huge and i cant wait to put it together with my FPE 4.2 . I am going to put the Wallace scale gear on it also. Over all this cub has the Model Tech cub beat all to heck.

I have been trying to get a local hobby shop to get one for me, wanted to support local shop but looks like I will have to order from Airborne. I looked at the one from ModelTec and it just didn't look to be up to World Models.

Yes i had the Model tech and while it was a nice cub it doesnt compare to the World Models cub. The nice thing is that the World Models is 95 % done for you and it has the two wing tubes . The covering job is very good and while it isnt fabric like i really preferr for cubs it is nice. The other advantage of this one is the servos mount in the rear of fuse which gets rid of all the install problems with installng pushrods in the middle of the fuse. Also the World Models cub has a wider wing root 24 compared to 19 for the Model Tech.
