Go for it!!! Good low wing semi-aerobatic plane (not 3D). .40 to .51 engine is a good range for that plane. If you have flown trainer and other trike gear planes, this is a good chioce to move on with.

RE: Four Star 40
Everyone should have a 4 star something. I had the 40 myself for a while but now I've flown the heck out of a 4 star 120. It has so many flights that the last one the ailerons started to flutter and the hinges need replacement. So...it's in the shop.
You can't go wrong with a 4 star. I wish they made a little electric one.

RE: Four Star 40
I have four TT.46 pros, two on a twin and use 11X6 MA's. You might try a 11X7.5 Scimitar or Bolly, I use the Scimitar on my Kaos, and am happy with performance. The fourth is on a pusher, and it too is a Scimitar. Good engine, play around with proop size and find one you like, that enigne will turn a wide range of sizes.

RE: Four Star 40
Have gone through two four star 40 and am on my third. Have run everything from an OS 40fp, TT 46, OS 46FX, OS 46AX, OS FS70 and all flew great. The OS FS70 was really fun My current one is my everyday always willing to bang around plane. Good to learn taildragger on, solid intro aerobatics and very forgiving. The kits are easy and a great way to get into building too.
I also have a 60 bashed into a crop duster with a smoke system. GREAT design and easily adaptable to many power systems. If e power is your calling check out RC groups. Several guys have electrified the 40 size. I have seen all the way up to the 120 electrified and they seem to work very well there too.
Just my experiences.

RE: Four Star 40
I recently finished building the .60. What a blast to build, had a .40 with the OS .50 FX and it was a screamer. But it met its demise.. I have a question with the .60 though, has anyone done anything about the rather large gap in the front of the wing saddle near the wing dowels? I will be ruuning a RCV .91CD in this one and I am concerned about oil getting up and under the wing from the breather. Thought about adding some wood to the wing and sanding it down to blend. Here's a couple pics, let me know what you think. Want it to be simple as I'm selling it RTF and don't want to put alot more work into it. Gonna try to maiden it tommorow.
Thanks Shane

Another plane you can look into is the WM Skyraider Mach II. Its very light and would be great for a humble ST40. Its very easy to build too.

I have this exact combo and the plane is a perfect match for that engine. Flies great too. Never hear anything bad about a 4*, but for a lot less money the Skyraider ARF is hard to beat. I've got about 75 flights on mine now and not one thing needs fixed yet. Very easy build and very high quality.
