Default Great Planes Pitts/Saito 180???

I already have the engine and would like to find a S-1 or S-2 Pitts ARF to mount it on....would like the combo to be capable of the IMAC Basic aerobatic maneuvers. Anyone have experience with this airframe/engine combination? I know there are other designs that are probably better suited to this kind of flying, but I really like the Pitts..

Thanks,

Randy

I had a 180 in my Cermark Pitts. I loved the combination. Flew it for parts of four seasons before selling it. Torque rolls were a thing to behold.

I've looked at the Cermark version, and it looks like a nice model. The Oracover covering material is a really big plus, but it looked as though the 180 would be too tight a fit...It must have worked well for you though...was the engine side mounted or inverted? That 180 really has a lot of pull...do you remember which prop you used??

Here are some pictures of mine with the 180 under the hood. I think the prop was a 17 X 10.

I found the plane to be the perfect size for the engine in powert to weight. The plane is light, and the engine is powerfull.

That looks really nice and a neat installation too! Is that aluminum plate/sheet on the fwd fuse under the cowl part of the ARF or is it something you added? Looks like a good idea. The model looks nice "in person" as opposed to the web site pictures. Is that the stock tailwheel assembly??

Thanks for the pictures!! I think I've made up my mind.......
