I dont have time to do full builds, but would love to have a good selection of arcs to cover and make my own... Why can't these chinese arf builders make some arcs.... What's your opinion would you buy a quality arc?

I might buy an ARC, but have never yet done so. The ARFs are generally cheap enough that it doesn't bother me to strip off the ARF covering down to the bones, check the glue joints, make whatever mods/reinforcements I find useful, then re-cover to my own taste. A heat gun makes it easy to get the old covering off. Lots of times the trim will peel by itself in the first season, and you end up having to recover it anyway. The Asian manufacturers have some strange ideas, it seems to me, when it comes to appearance of an ARF.

Yes, I would buy one. if there were more choices out there.
I have yet to re-cover an ARF, but I think it may be a fun challenge to try.

Several of the smaller inporters and (even Horizon) have brought in ARC versions and/or solid color versions of their ARCs. In every case, they have sold a few, but they have had to "fire sale" the rest of them at cost to get rid of them. There are lots of people who say they want ARCs, but very few who are actually willing to put money on the table.

That will be the next step for me... Was going to recover a GP DR-1 Fokker and they quit making them... I have the original red one and love the looks, but want to do one in a Waldo Pepper look.

Jim you are probably right...

I just strip them down before assembly and recover. I do it quite a bit. The difference in cost from ARC and ARF is not much and only takes a coupl e hours to remove it all .

I'd hate to see how warped a ARC would be after sitting in a container waiting to get to the US at least the cheap covering keeps it striaght till you can strip it down

Stripping the old off and recovering is not a problem for me. The hard part for me is repainting a nicely done cowl to match the new scheme. That's when I get second thoughts about the change.
I would prefer buying all my planes as ARC and doing my own finish from a fresh start. I know allot of people that would also prefer it that way.
