Default Sr. Kadet Arf Weight - To Much??

I finally finished my tail dragger conversion and put a Magnum XLS .52A engine on it. The only problem I have is it took a lot of lead to get the CG they recommended. I weighed the airplane and it came in at 8.6 pounds. Does anyone have one that weighed this much? How well did it fly and respond to control inputs?

Thanks for your time...Brian

Not sure if you mean the Kadet Sr. or the LT?

Either way if its the LT the iwngloading is 22oz so it will be fine... my suggestion would be to move everything as far forward as possible and maybe get a heavier spinner so you atleast have functional weight on the front end. You can get those weighs that go in the spinner which may help you since that will be further out then the lead in the nose.

The Sr Kadet at 8.6 lbs will still be a kite... The .52 FS is about the same as a .40 two stroke, It won't be a rocket, but should fly pretty good......

I have flown a Senior Kadet at 10.5 pounds with a .45 engine. Flies on the wing.

My senior weighed in at 10lbs 11 oz with a FS70 4 stroke and flew great. First kit w/lots of stiffening, bracing on stabs, barn door ailerons, etc.

I used the Sig tail wheel assy with a Futaba micro servo mounted in the tail that caused most of the aft cg condition. After I get this bird in the air and see how the power turns out I might go with a larger engine. I have a K&B 65 that I could try. Thanks for the replys...Brian
