I have flown my GP super sportster 40 for about 4 flights. I have an OS 46FX with an 11x5 prop and 15% fuel. I love the speed and agility of this plane but i did something crazy. After going to Hobbytown I ended coming home with a MACs tuned pipe and Header. I have the header pipe cut and tuned, i am just waiting for a good day to fly. I think i am going to rip the motor roght off the firewall! Anyone have any expirence with this plane with a tuned pipe. I have heard figures of +100 MPH. Guy at my field is getting a radar gun soon too!! can't wait for that!!!!

I doubt that you'll reach 100 mph with a prop having 5" of pitch. I haven't done the math, but I really doubt it.
On the other hand, if you want to go really fast with that model, drop down to a 9x8 or 9x9 prop, remove the landing gear and tune up the pipe to match the load.
You will probably have to add a gasket under the cylinder head to prevent pre-ignition. This is typical when using tuned pipes OR you could drop down in nitro to say 5% or so.
Have fun.
Yes, we are all nuts.

I'm willing to bet if you didn't reinforce the wing that pipe and a 46fx flying full throtle level flight will break the wing in 2 pieces. Any slight aileron flutter will transfer the energy to the wing cause extreme stress over time the wing will weaken causeing a failure trust me I've done it.

I used to fly an SS 40 with an OS 45 FSR turning a 10X7 and there was never a hint of flutter. Even in full throttle straight down dives. A piped 46 turning an 11X5 will not even come close to over speeding the airframe. This plane, while it moves along pretty nicely, is not a rocket ship. It's just too draggy. Use the pipe to turn a larger prop and have fun with the vertical performance.

I flew mine for about 150 flights with a TT pro 46. I am not sure of the speed. But it was about 20mph faster than a poane we radared at 90mph. I used a ST 40 muf. with a 9x8 apc. In later flights I have pulled full up at top speed it is quite fun. No problems except they dont take 90mph touch and goes verry well. I didnt kill it I just hurt it a little> It will fly again.
