CMP Super Chipmonk 46

I was in my local hobby store today and was looking at a new CMP Kittyhawk 46 which looks nice, but while looking at the cataloge I saw a nice looking Super Chipmonk 46 in their range. I have asked the store to see if they can get one (i'm in Australia) as I have always liked the look of these planes. Has anyone flown their super chipmonk in the 46 size? If so, is it any good? I'm thinking of using an OS 70 FS. Matt

Since no one has replied, I'll throw in a little info.
I have the Kondor 52 version which is virtually the same except for a 63" span instead of the 57". The fiberglas fuselage is paper thin, but I've only noticed a slight crack at the rear wing saddle. Mine was given to me by a fellow pilot that didn't like the way it kept nosing over during take-off and landing. He had bent the gear arm further forward than stock to prevent the nose over and I bent them about another 1/2". It takes careful up elevator to keep it level and still not lifting off too soon. As I've posted many times here, with the narrow tapered wings, you need to trim both ailerons up about 1/8" to 3/16" to create washout and help reduce tip stall. Last week I was chasing turkey buzzards in a good dogfight and was so intense on watching the birds that I let the plane turn too slow and tight that it went into a death spiral. I was able to recover, but it was a lesson that the Chipmunk and Caps will snap in a heartbeat.
After rambling, I'll say they are a good looking and flying plane but require many prior low wing flights. Mine has an inverted Enya .61 2 stroke and I think the 70 4c in yours would be a rocket. Several Chipmunks I've seen with side mounted motors really destroys the cowl.

In my humble opinion......What are you doing chasing buzzards? If one would chase you and happen to hit your plane you'd be the dead bird!

Thanks for the advice Huskerboy, and Tom?. I have been flying for more than twenty years so the snaping should be fun. I fly from smooth grass so it will be interesting to see if I will have the same nose over problem. Thanks again, if I can get the kit I will post some pixs. Matt
