If it's the plane below, everyone and his mother had one here last year, they all liked them, hated the LG, replace the LG at the start. The .46 with a pipe is what I'm putting on mine also, it's a good comb. I have a Wankel in mine now a little under powered, well a lot under powered. Mine is balanced about an inch behind where they say to balance it very small loops, 2 foot diameter, not setup for a beginer, setup like the say very easy to fly. I think mine is the only on left of about 8~9 in the club, but that's because guys do crazy things with them.

The Modeltech Simply Magic is now Hobby People Simply Magic. Great airplane for a $70. I bought mine for $100 last year and it is one of my favorite planes. I have a .52 Magnum set up and it rips up the sky.

They have no specs listed for it at all.

The Simply Magic is very close to the Magic Extra. The made the wing about an inch wider and added the cowl. There was another change but I don't remember what it is.
Here is a link to the [link=http://media.hobbypeople.net/manual/123742.pdf]manual.[/link]
They took the info page off the web but you can get most of it out of the manual. I like to keep a .pdf copy of any I can get, that I own.

Hopefully the covering on the Simply Magic is better than the Magic Extra. Very cheap non shrinkable covering that just peeled off all over the plane. I finally had to use CA to keep it from flying off the plane.

your right . the yellow magic 40 3-d is a high wing. earlier today hobby people had the plane in your picture at $69.00. it is a magic 'extra' and now its back up to $100.00 .there is another version of this magic extra that is red(same plane, thicker wing). they have been doing this crazy sell stuff for the last two and a half weeks. several days ago they had a .40 size me 109 arf for $69.00. several hours later it was back up to $100.00. they have the sonic 500 arf for $49.00. i paid $89.00 for mine last year. if you scan their site you will find the magic extra again at$69.00. but no picture of it??. so you really do not know what your buying. i went thru this charade with them last year. i did not get what i ordered.

I maidened my E-Powered $70 Simply Magic last Saturday. With a brushless outrunner and a 4s 4000 lipo, its right about 4.5 lbs. All in all a good flyer and at that weight, it literally lands at walking pace. With the smallish rudder I was worried about knife edge performance, but It definately has enough. It will do half of a KE loop no problem. Mine pulls to the belly a little in KE. My CG is at 4.75" and it flies hands off inverted, but is just a hair pitch sensitive. All in all, I like this little plane!

I've admired the Magic since I first saw one, it's tempted me to get back into gas (I'm resisting!). Sometime back, I think it was Quiet Flyer, ran an article on electrifying a Magic. Last weekend I picked up a Magic at a swap meet, my intention was to find the old copy of Quiet Flyer and make an electric out of it. I was unable to locate the article so I Googled and found Hobby Lobby's ad for everything needed to electrify my Magic... for $520! WHOA! I may have lost interest in this project! I'm looking for other's advice in electrifying a Magic before I break down and buy a gasser or offer my Magic up for sale! Any advice will be appreciated. Russ

My friend has the older Magic that was pictured in the first pic posted here. He put side force generators on it. It's a knife edge machine now. They struggle doing knife edge. I don't know if it's the thin air or if they are all like that. Fuse looks pretty skinny to me--not much side force there. But, my friend added side force generators to the wing tips and now it's fantastic. He made them from coroplast and just screwed them onto the wingtips. I think he cut the rounded tips off the wings.
